United States of America Cricket Umpires Association (USACUA) umpires Mohamed S. Baksh of New York (New York Region) and Ali Nazar of Connecticut (North East Region) attained the highest scores in the just concluded 2011West Indies Cricket Umpires Association Oral and Practical Examination.
The other top performers were Umpire Deepak Katte of New Jersey (Atlantic Region) and Ravishankar Byrappagowda of California (North West Region).
Twenty-two (22) candidates took the 2011 Final Oral and Practical examinations; 21 persons (95.5%) were successful and one (1) person (4.5%) failed. The candidate who attained the highest percentage is Mohammed Baksh of the United States of America (USA) with 98%, followed by Nazar Ali (USA); Barry Singh and Kellman Kowlessar , both Trinidadians, each attaining scores of 97%. Umpire Deepak Katte of New Jersey (Atlantic Region) and Ravishankar Byrappagowda of California (North West Region) attained individual scores of 96%.
Former Test Umpire Clyde Cumberbatch, Chairman of WICUA Training and Examination, lauded all the candidates of their efforts. He implores then and I quote that “On this day and forward, WICUA expects all of you to continue to be of service to your respective countries, and more so your umpiring body. Let your success be a motivating factor, with an aim of aspiring you to the highest level in umpiring”
