Germantown Kids Cricket Club (GKCC) won the toss and elected to bat first, sending Rockville out to field.
GKCC openers Saurav Pandey and Ritvik Yaragudi started with a fiery start to the match with Saurav hitting two sixes and Ritvik with his three fours. At the end of five overs, score was 40 for one wicket, Saurav’s (17). Next batsman, Soumith Gadila added to the high scoring game ultimately scoring 51 runs that included four sixes and two fours. Ritvik got out at 27 off Marshall’s bowling. Dheeraj came in next and added one six and two fours before getting out at 31. Anav Babbar and Upneet Singh, who came in the last over, added 1 run each. Rockville’s bowlers Ziyan Ahmed and Manav got two wickets each and Marshall got one.
At the end of 16 overs, GKCC had scored 143 runs for 5 wickets, setting a target of 144 for Rockville to win.
Rockville team could not establish a strong start and both openers Vaishnav and Tejas got out for zero. Advayith got out at 1. The duo of twin brothers, Herschell and Marshall provided much needed stability to the team and added 17 runs each which included 2 fours from each, before getting out. The rest of the batsmen fell quickly with Ziyan (4), Sresth (4), Shravan (3), Mihil (0) and Nush (0). In the 15th over, all Rockville team was out at a total score of 70.
GKCC bowler, Shankar Haridas took the most, 3 wickets, followed by Saurav Pandey and Shiv Luthra, who took 2 each, and Anav Babbar, who took 1. GKCC fielders Soumith Gadila, took 2 catches, followed by Srikar Gosakan and Anav Babbar, who took 1 each.
GKCC won by 73 runs, becoming state champions for the second time, having won previously in 2013.
MOM was Soumith Gadila with a game-high 51 runs and two catches.
