Strategic Plan 2014–2016
The United States of America Cricket Association is proud to announce the release of the USACA Strategic Plan 2014 – 2016 (The Plan). The Plan will be used to guide the organization in its aim to expand the level of engagement and involvement in the sport of cricket in the United States.
The Plan is the culmination of many months of collaboration, sharing of ideas and plenty of hard work from dedicated USACA members, volunteers and cricket stakeholders that have a genuine desire to grow the sport of cricket in the USA. The Plan acts as a “road-map” highlighting key focus areas for the sport including allocation of resources and measurement tools of the sport’s progress.
The USACA Strategic Plan 2014 – 2016 will focus on six major areas:
Increasing the number of young children playing cricket in the USA and building a vibrant profile of the sport that engenders excitement and inclusion
Providing sound, transparent and best practice leadership from experienced cricket administrators
Including and involving more young girls and women in development programs and regular weekly competitions
Improving the US talented player pathway and supporting Regional competition structures
Significantly improving the quality of the cricket experience in the US via a concerted effort to increase coach and umpire accredited numbers
Establishing more quality cricket facilities around the nation
Mr. Ben Kavanagh ICC Americas Regional Development Manager welcomed the Plan;
“The ICC America’s office applauds USACA for delivering a firm direction and strategic ‘road map’ for the development of cricket in the USA. This Plan neatly supports the ICC Strategic Plan 2011 – 2015 for the Region and represents an extremely professional approach to sustainable cricket development. There are no quick fixes in cricket development. It takes real commitment and strong leadership. The positive progress that USACA continues to make is most impressive. With experienced cricket administrators supporting the excellent work of local volunteers and administrators, this new Strategic Plan provides USACA with a platform for ensuring that cricket has a long term future in the US.”
USACA made a determined effort to include the cricket fraternity in the development of this Plan, a fact appreciated by the volunteers at the ‘cricket coal face. President of the New York District Cricket Association Mr. Mr. Trevor Walfall applauded the Plan; “The Strategic Plan that is outlined is the pathway to success both regionally and internationally. I wish the program the very best and look forward to the role it can play to support our role as a League within the New York Region” he said.
CEO of USACA Mr. Darren Beazley hopes that the Strategic Plan will provide stability and sustainability for cricket in the USA; “The past seven months have been extremely useful in understanding the challenges that US cricket faces. These challenges tend to vary Region by Region, but there are many constants that apply equally across America and these constants form the foundation of the Plan.
There has been a lot of debate and discussion about what US cricket needs to succeed over a long period. The time for rhetoric is over. The USACA Strategic Plan 2014 – 2016 is not only a clear guide to the manner in which we intend to ensure that cricket has a sustainable future in the US, but outlines to the cricket fraternity how we will work together to achieve our goals.
We want more children playing our game on a regular basis and participating in meaningful development programs that kids in other cricketing nations have access to. Our goal is for 50,000 people to be playing cricket by the end of 2016 and we are determined to deliver on that goal,” stated Mr. Beazley.
USACA’s ability to execute this Plan will depend heavily on the support of Regions and its members. The core implementers will be those hard-working individuals in a League and/or Association who will incorporate the Strategic Plan while building a cricket base in their hometown.
Mr. Richard Lawrence, President of the Sarasota International Cricket Club was also excited about the Plan’s release;
“We applaud this initiative and hope it gets the enthusiastic response and positive support that is deserves from members”, he said.
The USACA Strategic Plan 2014 – 2016 will be sent to all USACA members and contributors and can be viewed at the USACA web site www.usaca.org
