Tour of India
AHMEDABAD, INDIA – DEC 23: The USA Cricket Academy Tour of India 2014-15 concluded the first segment of the tour in Ahmedabad – Central Gujarat, with one T20 win and two 50-Overs losses, before moving on to South Central. During the first segment of the tour, the players, coaches and administrators enjoyed visiting the Chief Minister’s residence, where both the Under-19 and Under-17 teams met with the Hon. Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat and Mr. Saneev Ambrish Mehta, Chairman of the Swami Vivekanand Education Complex.
Before the festivities, the USA Cricket Academy Under-19 team lost to a Gujarat Cricket Association Under-19 XI by five wickets in their second 50-over match here today. The host team won the toss and decided to chase.
The USA Cricket Academy XI was soon reeling at 4 for 11 in 2.5 overs. They lost opener Derick Narine (0), Sagar Patel (0), Mario Persaud (0) and Karanjit Singh (0). The fifth victim was Shail Patel who also failed to open his account. New ball bowler Kavish Panchal tortured and tormented the visitors as he got five wickets for 19 runs in his deadly spell of nine overs, two of which were maidens.
Guaranty Sharma (20) and top scorer Arjun Patel (54) stemmed the rot with a 50-run partnership. The two carried the USA Cricket Academy total to 61 in 17.4 overs from 4 for 11, before Gauranshu Sharma was adjudged LBW to Arya Patel.
Playing a defiant knock of 54 studded with eight well-executed boundaries, Arjun Patel and Karan Patel (16) were associated in a sixth-wicket stand, before Manan Hingrajiva caught Karan Patel off the bowling of Devarsh Gandhi. The USA Cricket Academy’s innings terminated at 138 in 39.2 overs.
The Gujarat Cricket Association Under-19 team achieved their victory target in 21.1 overs, scoring 141 for 5. However, they had a disappointing start as they lost opener Rudraj Vaghela (3), LBW to Derick Narine. Opener Taman Jyot Singh (30, 7x4s) and Ansh Patel (50, 8x4s, 1×5) faced no problem in negotiating the bowling of the visitors. They pair stitched together an 86-run partnership for the second-wicket before the local team lost their second wicket of Taman, caught by Karan Patel off the bowling of Gauranshu Sharma at 92, and at the 11.2 overs mark. The pair had effectively put their team on the road to victory. At the conclusion of the match, Gujarat Cricket Association’s Karan Trivedi remained not out on 23 (3x4s, 1×6).
