Los Angeles is the first of eight cities across the country that will host a USA Cricket Combine in search of the most talented senior male, female and U17 cricketers, from April 7-10.
A high caliber coaching and assessment team has been assembled to assess the USA cricketing talent, which includes representatives from recent world champions, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
WICB National Selector Eldine Baptiste and WICB U19 World Cup winning coach Graeme West join world renowned fielding coach Mike Young throughout the three month talent search.
“I am thoroughly looking forward to working with Mike Young as well as the ICC Americas and local cricket community on this project” said Baptiste regarding his involvement in the USA Cricket Combines.
“It is a great opportunity for the players across the USA and extremely exciting for the development of the game”
Coordinated by ICC Americas Cricket Manager Tom Evans, in conjunction with local coaches, administrators and analysts, the four day assessment program will include cricket skills, matches and fitness testing.
ICC Americas have partnered with BAM Testing, the preferred testing provider of the NBA Combine, who will deliver the fitness specific testing across the country.
Brett Brungardt of BAM testing is eager to be involved in this first of its kind national cricket initiative:
“I’m intrigued to see how these cricketers stack up against some of the best athletes I’ve seen in basketball and other major US sports.”
While applications for the fast approaching combines in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale have now closed, combine applications are still open for the remaining locations:
