The USA Cricket Combines are set to return in 2018 with an expanded program of Regional Combines taking place in various cities across the U.S. between March and June 2018. The Cricket Combines aim to identify the best talent in Men’s, Women’s and Youth cricket from across the United States of America.
The USA Cricket Combines will be open to Member League and Academy Nominations, where Leagues and Academies that are registered members of USA Cricket can nominate their strongest players for consideration at the 2018 Combines. The Combines will also be open to Individual Member Player Applications, where Individual players who are not nominated by their leagues, and are members of USA Cricket, can put themselves forward for the combine after league nominations close.
The Combines will be managed by ICC Americas USA Project Staff and coordinated in conjunction with local coaches, administrators and analysts. Each Combines will have a four-day assessment program which will include cricket skills, matches and fitness testing.
The deadline for Member League and Academy nominations is February 25 and following an extensive review of the submissions with USA Cricket Coaches and Selectors, successful applicants will then be announced for the Regional Combines.
Member Player Applications will open on February 26 and close on March 9 for those players who have not been nominated by their league or academy.
For any player to be put forward for any nomination in either category, they must be a registered member of USA Cricket which opened earlier this week. Prospective Combine attendees must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Resident for their application to be valid. The schedule for the Regional Combines sees eight cities across the United States holding the events, from San Francisco to New York between early March and mid-June.
ICC Americas USA Project Manager Eric Parthen said: “I am hugely enthused by the previous editions of the Combines we have conducted and believe this is an important process to ensure a fair, transparent and all-inclusive selection process for our national teams while we work towards the creation of regional performance structures across the country.”
Ricardo Powell, Chairman of Selectors for USA Cricket said: “The Combines provide a crucial platform for us to see the raw talent that is spread around the country. With the Combines taking place this year, we believe that we’ll be in a fantastic position to spot the next generation of USA Players in the Women’s, Men’s and Youth squads and I would implore anyone who thinks they have what it takes to get involved in the 2018 Cricket Combines. I look forward to seeing what talent we can unearth this year.”
