ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier
USACA is delighted to announce that talented all-rounder Timroy Allen has reconsidered his decision to retire from international cricket and has made himself available for consideration by the US National Selectors for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier to be played in Dubai in November 2013. Allen announced his retirement earlier in the year citing his growing business and his family’s financial needs as his reason for being unable to continue his cricket career for the US.
Allen has only recently become a father again to Timroy Allen Jr and said he has had chance to reflect on what many people considered a premature retirement at the age of 26. Speaking from Orlando today, Timroy said;
“Fatherhood has helped me put a few things into perspective and to understand the importance of senior players guiding the next generation coming through. When I announced my retirement earlier in the year, I was juggling a growing family with a new business and the pressures that those things bring. I said some things publicly in the heat of the moment at the time, but my passion for US cricket has always remained strong.
The game of cricket and the USA National team is bigger than any one person. In order for the team to do well at the ICC T20 Qualifier, we all need to be prepared to make a contribution. I am delighted to be in a position to make myself available should the National Selectors wish to select me to represent this great country again. I really appreciate USACA giving me another chance to be considered for national honors. I want to do everything I can to help my team mates push USA cricket as far as it can go in this really important tournament”.
Timroy’s concerns over his business have been eased by support from the US National Team sponsor, Smart Choice Auto Group who has offered support to help to run his business while he is away and USACA is grateful to Mr. Shakhi Muhammad and Smart Choice Auto Group for their forward thinking in this situation.
