USACA Youth Committee Target 10,000 New Youngsters Per Year

USACA Youth Committee Meeting
Attendees: Rahul Sharma, Ricky Kissoon, Shantha Suraweera, Asif Ahmad, Hemant Buch, Manaf Mohamed, Lisa Brulport, Rajesh Uppalapati Absent Due to Prior Commitments: Syed Shahanawaz, Vasanth Krishnaswami, Michael Gale

Core Agenda
To set three potential goals for the core USACA youth strategy going forward and recommendations on potential budget and funding allocation
1 Introducing and having the game adopted
2 Potential youth based tournaments (regional and possibly super regional focus)
3 Developing coaching resources.

Introducing and adopting the sport
Have 10,000 new youngsters adopt cricket and playing at least 10 weeks a year in one year.
Committee members discussed the various needs and opportunities in each region or area represented. A number of the discussions evolved around how to reach to P/E teachers for zero based certification and a focus on potential schools in each region that each member of the committee can reach out to.
For example Hemant Buch talked about training 200 secondary schools by December of 2012. The agreed approach to budgeting is to take 50% of potential budgets for this and seek additional funding from bodies such as the ICC and interested sponsors the USACA board members will help with.

Regional and National tournament and Super regions
Each member recognized that this is a key platform for keeping youth engaged and involved in the sport once they have been introduced and are playing more regularly. Asif Ahmed and Rahul Sharma volunteered to develop the framework and this will be discussed at the next committee meeting. The allocation of budget for this would be 20% to 35%. There should be a published calendar of events and tournaments to be published on the USACA.org website. Three members agreed to coordinate that Hemant Buch, Ricky Kisoon and Manaf Mohamed.

Develop coaches and coordinators
The key is to develop coaches and mostly coordinators. At the next meeting the committee should set up a small sub group to focus on building programs, content and budget for this purpose.

Manaf Mohamed to send request to identify at least 2 trainers from each region who will be trained by Wendell Coppin of ICC from each region. The time frame for this is middle November.

Other Items:
• In order to develop a finding model members involved in each of these three objective areas will come back with requests and plans to draft a proposal to USACA that will show: objectives and measurements for success, resource needs and funding requirements (USACA, others and partner funding). Manaf Mohammad will require a set of funding plans within three weeks for integration into the national budget
• The committee will work with the USACA board member (Michael Gale) on key information that needs to be loaded and managed on the USACA Youth website (for example local market cricket playing communities), teaching and coaching content and ongoing news.
• Full committee invites for the USACA youth committee for the G-mail account will be sent out and confirmed by October 28th.

The Next Meeting:
Will be held on Tuesday, November 13th at 6.00PM Pacific time. USACA will send out the meeting reminder to the team members. We will try and have ongoing meetings on the second Tuesday of every month.
