USYCA President Delivers Cricket Sets To Schools In Virginia And Maryland

In the past two weeks, USYCA President Jamie Harrison visited with three schools, one in Virginia and two in Maryland. At each school he spent the day instructing students and staff in cricket, and then allowing the children to play. At each school, a USYCA American Cricket Champ set was donated so that the students could continue to play in the future.

Teachers were very appreciative for USYCA’s support.

“My students were so excited to learn this sport. They had a great time, we now have a new game at recess!” said Terri Sanders of St. Mark’s Catholic School in Vienna, Virginia.

Darnell Russell of St. Charles High School in Waldorf, Maryland said, “My students were so excited yesterday and today. I am very grateful for your visit and will support you and the league in any way that I can. The students had questions about the game and you offered great answers. All students were eager to participate and wanted to talk more about the game and its history afterwards.”

Humaira Ahmed of Friends Meeting School in Ijamsville, Maryland said, “It was indeed an informative cricket clinic for my kids. They learned a new game from you. Your method was simple, clear and effective. The fact that they got to play a cricket match with you after the clinic actually doubled the fun. You were amazing with my kids and they were all ears to you. They simply loved it and would love to have you back as many times as possible.

I would like to say thank you on behalf of my kids, and Friends Meeting School, for bringing cricket to them. You are doing a great job. Thank you so much for the equipment. We will use it a lot.”
