West Indies’ Legends Cricket Tournament Set For August In New York
After a successful weekend of cricket activities in January, where thousands of adoring fans turned out at the Central Broward Regional Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to see the West Indies’ Legends take on a USA Cavaliers X1, several the legends are heading to New York for two T20 games which will be played at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd.
Tournament promoter, Pooran Ramnanan of A-Class Events, who was also responsible for the Florida event, is working closely with former West Indies batsman, Gordon Greenidge, and Tournament Manager, Orville Hall to make this another memorable event. When asked about the reason behind putting on such an event, Promoter, Pooran Ramnanan said, “We are very excited to have the legends visit the New York area and we are looking forward to a tremendous response from the Tri-State fans”. Ramnanan is working very closely with League Presidents in the Tri-State area, and have asked them to suspend all games for that weekend so that their members and supporters can attend the legends’ games.
The weekend’s action will get underway on Friday, July 31 at 8:00 PM, with a star-studded banquet in Queens, New York , where patrons will get a chance to mingle with the legends, and there will also be a question and answer session as well. The action moves to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd for two T20 games.
Both games will get started at 2:00PM. Several legends have already committed to be in New York for this event, and a press conference is scheduled for next weekend to provide additional information about the upcoming event.
