The world’s first Cricket Hall of Fame will be celebrating its 35thAnniversary with an Induction Ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel, Windsor Locks, Connecticut on Saturday, October 1, starting at 7 p.m.
The president of the West Indies Cricket Board David Cameron is expected to attend the ceremony and address the gathering about the state of West Indies Cricket.
A feature of the day’s celebrations will be a women’s exhibition cricket match in Keney Park, Hartford that will begin at 12 noon. Thirty women from New Jersey and New York will converge on the capital of Connecticut, Hartford, for this historic occasion. Two women umpires will officiate the game.
Former West Indian players, wicket-keeper Jeffrey Dujon and all-rounder John Shepherd are the International inductees. The American inductees are P. K. Guha, Commissioner Bassett Thompson, Commissioner Lorna Austin, Ivy Mahabir and Roselyn Emmanuel.
Receiving Presidential Awards will be Sergeant Andrew Lawrence, Past Hall of Fame’s president Shirley Matthews and Bishop Dr. Jonathan Ramsey.
Mascelles Bailey, president of U.S. Cricket Promoters Association in New York will pay tribute to the late Roy Sweeney with a rendition of the song “I did it my way.”
