Zamin, Lorick And Royo Stars In Everest Win Over All Pros
By Shivnan S. Ramjattan
As the doyens of the game continue to impress later on at an older age—last Saturday at the prepossessing Idlewild park and under hot and humid conditions—was no different as Everest secured a thrilling five-wicket win over All-Pro Masters.
Zamin Amin led the charge with a splendid 87, along with Glen Lorick with 57, but Royo Sankar was there—all the way to the end with an unbeaten 44 and saw his team romped home with one over to spare. The game was reduced to 32 over due to ground preparation, but that did not dampen the spirit of the cricket enthusiasts.
All-pro Masters took advantage of the impressive conditions after winning the toss and post an imposing total. R. Chokard was the main architect in their impressive score with a flamboyant 87, he also received support from C. Elliot 40 and I. Sealy 22 not out. At one stage, All-Pro were cruising at 118 from 12 overs with Chokard punishing anything up, half-valley or short to the fence, Trevor Walke had an impressive, fruitless opening burst, his 6 overs costing only 24,but the rest were clubbed around the park. However, with the introduction of the veteran spinners, Amin, 3 for 39 and Mohamed, 2 for 29, it was a different ball game as the duo spun circles around the rest of the All-pro batsmen to have them restricted to 218 for eight from 32 overs.
Chasing a required rate of 6.84 for victory, Everest were in some trouble at 39 for 3 before Lorick and Amin took the score 106, lorick then later fell for 57 and with a further 113 required, Royo Sankar coming in at 6 partnered Amin and the duo crafted an impressive six-wicket partnership of 90 from 80 deliveries, that took the game away from All-Pro. Amin knock
was filled with excellent shots all over the park, while Sankar was cutting and punching through the covers all day long.
With a further 12 required, Amin was run out, trying to steal a quick single, but Mohamed 6 not out and Sankar 44 not out, ensured Everest romped home with one over to spare.
