Jaguars And Gujarat Lions Ahead In T10 Tournament

The 2021 cricketing season in Capital District of NY kicked off in May with the curtain raiser T10 tournament, nine teams were split into 2 groups with 4 teams in Group A and 5 teams in Group B.

The top 2 teams from each group advance to the semis. With 12 games into the tournament, the Jaguars and the Gujarat Lions have been the in-form teams in the tournament with both having won all their 3 group games so far and leading their respective groups.

Jaguars with their power hitting and fast bowling have won games comfortably while the Gujarat Lions relied more on their teamwork and some disciplined effort with both bat and ball.

David Latchaya of Jaguars has been batsman of the tournament so far, notching up 91 runs at a strike rate of 168 that included a splendid match winning half century off 26 balls against Rangers. David also leads the charts in the bowling department with his tidy off spin fetching him 6 wickets so far.

Other notable batting performances include: Saravanan Manickavasagam’s (Knights) a breezy 36 off 24 balls in a comfortable chase against Everglade Strikers, Harsh Jogi’s a rapid 32 off 19 balls and Akash Ayana’s 20 ball 41 both coming for Gujarat Lions against the Everglade Strikers, Shoaib Hassan’s (Highlanders) 16 ball 32 against Rangers, Mahesh Dassram 30 against JET Albany.

On the bowling front, Naveen Punyala is second on the chart with 5 wickets while Mike Persaud, Ankur Bhanot, Steven Mangal, Arun Ghanta, Rahul Bandaru and Akash Ayana have 4 wickets each so far.
