Villagers CC continued their good start to the 2013 New York Metropolitan Cricket League Clement “Busta” Lawrence Round Robin Tournament posting a convincing 71-run victory over Cosmos at the Gateway Cricket Field on Sunday June 23.

Talisman Gordon had 4 for 28.

Villagers bowling attack combined to restrict Cosmos to 111 in 27.4 overs, chasing a target of 183 off 35 overs. Seam bowler Talisman Gordon playing in his first game since May 12 grabbed 4 for 28 from his 7 overs, while new ball partner George Adams who also missed the last few games because of the death of his father finish with (1 for 31), Steve Massiah (1 for 14) and Melroy Kingston (1 for 2) supported well, as Cosmos struggled against some good bowling and fielding which resulted in 3 run outs.

After Villagers CC posted a fighting 182, with a responsible 39 from opener Kingston and 38 from captain Cliff Roye and Massiah who chipped in with 24, Cosmos was put on the back foot immediately when H. Hassan was caught behind off the first ball of the inning off a lively looking Adams and when danger man Faisal Taj was run out in the second over to make it  2 down with 4 runs on the board the writing was on the wall and Cosmos never recovered as only C Burton (24) who was also run out along with Lenny Archibald (11) and D. Levy (28) made double figures.

Earlier, Villagers CC won the toss and opted to bat with Melroy Kingston and Charles Walker posted 45 off 6.2 overs for the first wicket.

Once the openers were separated, the middle-order rallied against the Cosmos attack after being 129 for three off 20 overs as Sham Ali finish with 2 for 52 from 7 overs, R. Levy 2 for 37, Taj 2 for 32 and Ricky Kissoon 3 for 23

Final score Villagers CC 182 all out in 30.5 overs and Cosmos 111 all out in 27.8 overs.
