London, England (June 25, 2026) – Danni Wyatt-Hodge continued her outstanding ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a composed half-century as England secured a place in the semi-finals with a convincing 38-run victory over the West Indies at Lord’s on Thursday.
Fresh from her century against Sri Lanka earlier in the tournament, Wyatt-Hodge struck 65 from 45 deliveries, while Heather Knight contributed a brisk 43, helping England post 186 for 7—the highest women’s T20 international total recorded at the Home of Cricket.Danni Wyatt-Hodge continued her superb campaign, top-scoring with a fluent 65 to power England to a commanding 38-run victory over the West Indies. The West Indies never seriously threatened the target despite an unbeaten half-century from Chinelle Henry, finishing on 148 for 5 to suffer their first defeat of the competition. The result also gave England a measure of revenge following their heavy group-stage loss to the Caribbean side at the 2024 tournament.
After winning the toss and electing to field, the West Indies made an early breakthrough when Henry dismissed Amy Jones for eight in the opening over. However, Wyatt-Hodge quickly shifted momentum, taking 17 runs from Henry’s next over as England raced away in the powerplay.
Sophia Dunkley made 14 before falling leg-before to Ashmini Munisar, but England still reached 57 for 2 after six overs. Wyatt-Hodge then combined with Alice Capsey in a crucial 66-run partnership that laid the foundation for a formidable total.
Wyatt-Hodge reached her fifty from just 32 balls as England crossed the 100-run mark in the 12th over. Capsey contributed 28 before being caught at long-on off Karishma Ramharack. Knight then accelerated the scoring despite an early reprieve when she was dropped on 14 by Hayley Matthews.
England lost Wyatt-Hodge to a run-out for 65 in the 16th over, while Freya Kemp departed cheaply. Knight continued the assault with a rapid 43 before being run out in the penultimate over. Late boundaries from Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone pushed England to their record-breaking total.
The West Indies struggled to gain momentum in reply. Captain Hayley Matthews managed 14 before an England review confirmed her dismissal, caught behind off Linsey Smith. Shemaine Campbelle and Deandra Dottin attempted to revive the chase, but England’s bowlers maintained control throughout.
Dottin struck three consecutive boundaries before holing out to long-on for 19, while Campbelle made 20 before Ecclestone claimed her wicket. Charlie Dean removed Jannillea Glasgow as the Caribbean side slipped to 69 for 4.
Chinelle Henry and Jahzara Claxton resisted with a determined partnership, but the required run rate continued to climb. Claxton scored 21 before falling to Lauren Bell, while Henry reached a 29-ball half-century in the final over.
Despite Henry’s unbeaten 51, the West Indies finished 38 runs short as England sealed their place in the final four.
The defeat leaves the sixth-ranked West Indies needing a victory over Ireland in their final Group B match to guarantee qualification, while second-ranked England have already secured their semi-final berth.
