VISIONS OF NEW YORK Vision 2012 and beyond will see the NYCR using its human resources and available infrastructure to make it the best region in the USA, while gaining the admiration of national and international cricket organizations. It is obvious that the region, faced with numerous distractions will not make any progress unless it makes a serious effort to escape the cycle of failure. It must create and maintain very high standards of operation instead of the “Anything Goes” mentality. The vision is to see like-minded people who want the region to move forward, unite against the naysayers, critics, pundits of doom, and the “do nothing” generation. To be successful the NCYR needs the same basic underpinnings as any great government or corporate institution; a qualified and committed group, no matter how small, pledged to putting their differences aside and working together and devising a plan of action to achieve goals in various areas, such as - a) adopting a basic set of operational rules b) setting achievable goals c) creating an appropriate infrastructure d) generating operational funds, and e) maintaining excellent record keeping procedures THE MISSION The mission of the program is to promote the game at the Under 15, Under 17, Under 19, Under 25, Senior Men and Women levels, so that our players and teams will be the best in the USA and will be able to compete successfully at the international level. Central to the mission must be committed persons who are willing to work together to take New York Region back to the glory days. COMPETITIONS The New York Region will sponsor the following competitions during 2012, Under 15, Under 17, Under 19, Under 25, Women, and Men. NATIONAL TOURNAMENT The NYCR will send a team to all USA championship tournaments during 2012 and beyond. SELECTION POLICY A selection policy for all teams will be published.  A Selection Committee, Manager and Coach shall be in place at least one month prior to any tournament. NEW PROGRAMS 1) Caribbean Cup sponsored by NYCR in which teams represent various countries. The Mayor’s Cup will be conducted on an Inter-league basis. Inter-league tournaments in the region have not been showcasing the best players within the region, and the idea is that the Caribbean Cup will attract the top players. To maintain the integrity of a true regional domestic tournament, the players selected must reside in the USA and not be simply visiting the region or traveling to New York for the sole purpose of participating in the tournament. This format will encourage the selection of the best regional players who reside within the New York region, to represent the NYCR 2) A Double Wicket Tournament will be staged to raise much-needed operational funds for the region. This event will be the first of many annual NYCR signature events 3) Stage two-day Youth Cricket matches 20 ACHIEVABLE OBJECTIVES FOR 2012 – 2013 1)     Create and approve a NYCR Constitution 2)     Prepare a regional plan for fundraising and sponsorship 3)     Develop an annual calendar for all activities of USACA, NYCR and Leagues 4)     Create and maintain a web site to disseminate credible information 5)     Lay the groundwork to unite all cricket leagues under the NYCR’s banner 6)     Develop uniformed Rules, Regulations, and Playing Conditions for all leagues 7)     Hold regular meetings of the NYCR administration and stakeholders 8)     Appoint and supervise committees 9)     Hold an AGM for all clubs of NYCR 10)   Identify the top 20 cricketers in each of the following categories: Men’s 50/50, 20/20, Women, Under 25, Under 19, Under 17, and Under 15 11)  Appoint committed and credible selectors, managers and coaches for each of the above categories 12)  Schedule tournaments for all categories 13)  Create and adopt a selection policy 14)  Participate in all USACA and other credible tournaments 15)  Win the USA national tournament in all categories 16)  Provide mini contracts for young talented cricketers, and arrange for young cricketers to travel abroad to a cricket training facility or academic institution 17)  Continue the New York City Mayor’s Cup Tournament and increase its impact and visibility 18)  Have an Annual Awards Ceremony for NYCR clubs, cricketers and stakeholders 19)  Train and certify 20 Level 1 coaches and 20 Level 2 coaches 20) Work with City and State officials to get a NYCR facility for indoor and outdoor cricket New York Region 2012 Annual Cricket Calendar
