Scotland secured a commanding 170-run victory over Canada in the ICC CWC League 2 on Aug. 13, at Forthill, Dundee, as Richie Berrington struck a century and debutant Lyle Robertson claimed six wickets.

Scotland, who elected to bat, posted 347 for 7 from their 50 overs, with Berrington anchoring the innings with 120 from 103 balls. His innings included 15 fours and four sixes and formed the centerpiece of a strong recovery after Scotland slipped to 25 for 2 inside the seventh over.

Finlay McCreath made 13 before he was trapped lbw by Zahid Shirzad, while Michael English fell for six to Kaleem Sana. Brandon McMullen then steadied the innings with 64 from 59 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes.

McMullen added 140 for the third wicket with Berrington, taking Scotland to 165 before Yuvraj Samra dismissed McMullen in the 27th over. Berrington continued to control the innings, bringing up his century during a fourth-wicket stand with Michael Jones, who contributed 41 from 47 balls.

Jones was dismissed for 41 at 285 for 5, but Matthew Cross accelerated late in the innings with an unbeaten 51 from 38 balls, including seven fours. Jack Jarvis added a rapid 30 from just 14 deliveries, with three fours and two sixes, as Scotland finished strongly at 347 for 7.

Shirzad was Canada's most successful bowler, taking four wickets for 60 runs from his 10 overs, while Sana claimed two for 56.
Canada's chase never gathered momentum and was bowled out for 177 in 35 overs. Pargat Singh top-scored with 42 from 68 balls, while Shreyas Movva made 27 and Saad Bin Zafar scored 31 from 28 deliveries.

Canada lost Aaron Johnson for six early, and Yuvraj Samra followed for 16, leaving the visitors 45 for 2. Pargat and Harsh Thaker briefly rebuilt the innings, but Thaker fell for 16 at 106 before Robertson took control.

Playing his first international match, Robertson delivered a memorable debut, removing Thaker, Movva, Saad, Shivam Sharma, Zahid Shirzad and Kaleem Sana to finish with figures of 6 for 52 from 10 overs. His spell dismantled Canada's lower order, with the final three wickets falling for no addition to the total.

Jack Jarvis also played a key role with the ball, taking two wickets for 34 runs, while Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif claimed one wicket apiece.

The result gives Scotland a significant boost in the ICC CWC League 2 standings, while Canada's heavy defeat leaves them needing stronger results in their remaining matches to improve their position in the qualification race. For Robertson, the victory was particularly notable as his international debut ended with a six-wicket haul and Player of the Match honors.
