USACA today announced Robin Singh as the Head Coach for the US Men’s National Cricket team that will play in an international cricket tournament next month. The US will host the 2013 ICC Americas Division One tournament to be held in Fort Lauderdale in South Florida.

The tournament involves men’s teams from the following countries;
• USA
• Bermuda
• Cayman Islands
• Suriname
• Bahamas
The T20 tournament runs from March 17th to 23rd, with the top two teams from the tournament qualifying for the ICC World T20 Qualifier to be held in Dubai later in the year.
The US and Bermuda will then play ICC Americas 50 Overs Match Practice Series from March 24th to 30th in preparation for the WCL Division 3 in Bermuda in April.
Singh has been involved with the US High Performance Program since 2011 when he coached the US Under 19’s team and it optimistic about the chances of the teams in the upcoming ICC Americas tournaments.
“These tournaments present another great opportunity for the players to take US cricket one step closer to the top after a successful campaign in Malaysia. We are in our own “backyard” and cannot ask for a better setting than South Florida at this time of year. The players must enjoy the game, go out and display their skills consistently without fear.
It is a well balanced team with some young and exciting players. We must play like champions and I expect the team to go all the way” he said from his home in Chennai.
USACA President Gladstone Dainty welcomed Singh’s appointment.
“Robin has been working well with our talented players for a few years now and is molding them into a competitive force. We are very pleased to have his involvement once again and look forward to the team representing their country with distinction in March” Mr Dainty said.
“Equally important to his role with the national team, Robin also performs an extremely important role in terms of coach education. Whilst he is in the US, he will dedicate time to working with our High Performance Program staff and assist them to develop their skills and knowledge which is an investment in the long term by USACA”.
The tournament will be played at the Lauderhill Cricket Stadium and at Brian Piccolo Park in Fort Lauderdale over the three weeks of competition.
