Cricket stakeholders in the USA, focused on the growth and development of women’s cricket in the country, formed a not-for-profit support group to serve this purpose. The group calls itself the American Women’s Cricket Support Group (AWCSG) on its social media platforms.

In a media release distributed earlier today, the group stated, “… women’s cricket in the United States is poised for a pivotal moment of opportunity—one that calls for both action and broad support.” The support group, consisting of eleven men and one woman, will launch its first effort on April 3rd this year with a three-team T20 tournament in Orlando, FL. According to the media release, the AWCSG seeks to “establish a performance platform to support women’s cricket and grow the sport in the USA.” Its mission is to ignite a passion for cricket among girls and women and increase opportunities nationwide. The group will immediately host three premier T20 tournaments with up to three competitive teams each, beginning with the Orlando event from April 3-5, 2026.
The Premier T20 Tournaments will feature players aged 15 and older, selected via a draft to ensure competitive play and player development for higher levels.
The well-known American cricket stakeholders include Ajay Jhamb, Amer Afzaluddin, Aravinth Ganesan, Ashok Adikoppula, Ganesh Krishnamurthy, John Aaron, Mitali Das, Rameshu Immadi, Rajat Dhingra, Ranjeet Singh, Sivakumar Kumarasamy, and Suresh Vallabhaneni.
According to a spokesperson for the group, the AWCSG will invite current and aspiring USA-based female players to register for a draft from which the inaugural Premier Women’s T20 Tournament’s three teams will be selected. The AWCSG is seeking support for the tournament from players, parents, sponsors, other cricket stakeholders, and media outlets.
