Atlanta Fire powered their way to a commanding 75-run victory over Orlando Galaxy in a high-scoring clash of the 2025 Minor League Cricket South Division, played on Aug. 30th. A fiery batting display set the tone, followed by disciplined bowling that dismantled Galaxy’s chase.

Winning the toss, Atlanta Fire opted to bat first and immediately set the stage for a big total. Steven Taylor lit up the innings with a blazing 50 off just 27 balls, striking six boundaries and three sixes before retiring out. His aggressive knock provided the perfect platform. Partnering him at the top, Sagar Patel chipped in with a fluent 34 from 24 balls before falling to Tagenarine Chanderpaul.

Middle-order stability came from Paul Palmer, who remained unbeaten on 41 from 31 balls, while Jahmar Neville Hamilton added a lively 34. The innings, however, truly caught fire when Sunny Patel launched an explosive cameo, hammering 20 from just six deliveries, including three towering sixes. With extras also contributing 25 runs, Atlanta stormed to a formidable 217 for 5 in their 20 overs.

For Orlando Galaxy, Chanderpaul was the standout with the ball, returning figures of 2 for 25 in his four overs. Pranav Bhattad also kept things tight with 0 for 18 in his quota, but the rest of the attack struggled against Atlanta’s relentless assault.

Chasing a daunting target of 218, Orlando’s innings faltered almost immediately. Christopher Van Tull was bowled for a duck, and Romario King departed cheaply, leaving the side reeling early. Skipper Chanderpaul tried to anchor the chase with 30 off 28 balls, but his dismissal in the ninth over left Galaxy in deep trouble at 55 for 4.

Wickets continued to tumble as Atlanta’s bowlers dominated. Sunny Patel capped off his brilliant all-round performance with 2 for 20, while Ansh Patel and Aryan Patel chipped in with two wickets apiece. Venukalyan Madireddy also impressed, claiming 2 for 24. Orlando never recovered, despite some late resistance from Shuaib Syed (25) and Manav Patel, who smashed 25 off just 11 balls. The team was eventually bowled out for 142 in the final over.

Sunny Patel was deservedly named Player of the Match for his explosive batting cameo and crucial breakthroughs with the ball, as Atlanta Fire consolidated their position in the South Division with a statement win.
