For the twentieth consecutive year, Atlantis Cricket Club-NY provided much cheer to scores of children in Brooklyn hospitals through the club’s Annual Toy Drive.
This year, the New York-based cricket club once again turned over more than 200 toys and articles of new clothing to the Public Safety Department of Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York for distribution to children who unfortunately are hospitalized during the holiday season at NYU Langone Hospital (Brooklyn), Kings County Hospital, Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Maimonides Children’s Cancer Center, and Coney Island Hospital, recently renamed South Brooklyn Health.
Atlantis’ President, Dr. Glendon Archer, said, “Atlantis Cricket Club is thrilled to bring joy and happiness to children in pain or otherwise hospitalized at such a joyful time of the year,” adding, “This has been a tradition of our club for the past two decades. The annual toy drive is conducted in addition to our annual coat drive, benefitting the less fortunate in our community.”
Members of the club and several supporters, including the management and staff at MCC Non-Ferrous Trading, LLC, Cosmos Cricket Club-NY, Cali Crushers Women’s Cricket Club, and Lin Home Improvement, LLC, contributed to this year’s toy drive’s success. Twelve bags of assorted toys, ranging from newborn to teenagers, adorned with beautiful red and blue bows, were handed over to Public Safety officers and staff of Kingsborough Community College this past week on the steps of the Robert J. Kibbee library at the college.
Delise Chung, a CUNY Peace Officer/Specialist within the Kingsborough Community College’s (KBCC) Public Safety Department, said, “We are extremely elated with the annual toy contributions made by the Atlantis Cricket Club over the years. They add to toys collected as part of the KBCC Public Safety’s annual toy drive. The toys are distributed to many local hospitals in Brooklyn, New York,” adding, “Atlantis’ selfless acts of kindness have brought countless smiles to children in need and demonstrated the true spirit of giving. We thank Atlantis for making such a meaningful difference in our community.”
“On behalf of the Department of Public Safety at Kingsborough, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for Atlantis’ unwavering generosity during our annual toy drive.”
