The USA completed a comfortable (9) wicket victory over the host Canada with a game to spare and secured a place in the WCWCQ scheduled for next year.

Chasing a target of 136 for victory, Monique Mathee, with 70 not out, and Indomatie Goordial-John, with 36 not out, achieved the mission with relative ease to leave the host and the cheering supporters speechless.

Earlier the USA bowlers contained the Canadian batsmen scoring with some intelligent bowling, and were well supported by some clever field placing.

Mikaela Turik, the 16 year old Canadian, played with maturity beyond her years and was again the innings top scorer with a polished 32. Her only support came from Helene Gaffney, batting at number 10, who threw caution to the wind for a run a ball and finishing 27 not out.

The USA will be looking to complete a clean sweep in the final game of the series on Friday after Thursday?s rest day, while Canada will need a win to lift the teams’ spirits going into the Saturday?s T20 and give the home supporters something to cheer about.

Brief scores:

Canada 135/10 ? 48.4 overs (M. Turik 32, H. Gaffney 27 n/o, M. Patel 14); (D. Francis 3-16, S. Ward 2-23)
USA 163/1 ? 39 overs (M. Mathee 70 n/o, I. Goordial-John 36 n/o)
USA won by 9 wickets.
