Trinson Carmichael followed up his amazing bowling figures of 4 for 7 from the previous Sunday against Everest/ACS with a scorching 93 with the bat this Sunday against Richmond Hill Cricket Club.

Trinson Carmichael (93) and Romeno Deane (47) led the LSC batting.

Romeno Deane blazed a quick fire 47 as Liberty Sports Club (LSC) amassed 300 for 7 batting first. Henendra Ramdihal, Leon Mohabir and Vijendra Singh scalped 2 wickets a piece when for the Royal Empress Banquet Hall and GMA Enterprise Tax & Real Estate Services sponsored LSC restricted RHCC to 257 for 8 off 40 overs. The result being LSC winning by 43 runs.

Following their 4 wicket defeat at Bay Park against LSC, it was RHCC’s turn to host #TheBlueNation at the popular Baisley Cricket Cage in Queens, New York. On one of the hottest day of the 2015 Summer, the veterans of RHCC were asked to field first when LSC won the toss. Romeno Deane and Francis Mendonca allowed the first two overs to go quietly by before Deane turned up the heat in the 3rd over. Seven runs off that over signaled the intention of the LSC inning.  While Mendonca rotated the strike Deane struck 5 fours and 2 maximums in a 72 runs opening partnership off the first 12 overs. The partnership was brought to an end when Mendonca (19) fell to Wahid Ward. Two balls later Deane, three short of his half-century mark, would also depart after being bowled by Ward.

Carmichael joined Danesh Deonarain at the crease and the pair set about repairing the damage. Deonarain milked runs around the park while the extravagant Carmichael maintained the high octane tempo Deane had set. Getting off the mark with a boundary then following it up with a four and 3 maximums in his first 30 in the books, Carmichael made the hot and humid day punishing to the fieldsmen.  The partnership was at 75 when Deonarain (27) chipped one back to Sean Thompson in the 28th over with the score on 147.

With Carmichael moving the score along nicely, the explosive Terrence Madramootoo was added to the heated mix. Carmichael brought up his half-century with the fourth of his 8 maximums. Madramootoo knocked in 38 runs, which included 4 hefty blows over the boundary as the duo rocketed the score to 211 at the start of the 35th over before Madramootoo departed. The last six overs from RHCC went for 89 runs. Carmichael accounting for a large chunk of the scoring was well supported by Hemendra Ramdihal (20*) and Vijendra Singh (19*) after losing Dilly Khilawan 9 and Andre Kirton (7) quickly. Carmichael’s departure in the 38th over brought together Ramdihal and Singh who polished off the inning with 39 runs off the last 3 overs to set RHCC 301 for victory.

Bowling for Richmond Hill Warde finished with 3 for 25 off 3 overs while Sean Thompson picked up 2 for 55, Dreyck McDonald 1 for 56 and Kumar Nandalal 1 for 41.

Hemendra Ramdihal, Vijendra Singh and Leon Mohabir scalped 2 wickets each.

Requiring 7.5 runs per over, the RHCC openers set them well on track going at 9.6 runs per over after the 6th over. Carmichael struck with his third ball of the inning to remove Marlon Kallicahrran for 29. Nadesh Basdeo was removed 5 overs later with RHCC still sporting a healthy 8.5 run per over. Pradip Roopchand, the primary aggressor with six boundaries and three maximums, mishit Ramdihal’s first ball into the attack. Deane held a smart catch at long off to dismiss the dangerous looking RHCC opener for 55.

With Roopchand gone RHCC run rate kept dropping quickly as Leon Mohabir and Ramdihal tied down the batsmen. Mohabir struck a decisive blow, after proving difficult to read for Ward, the young spinner found the outer half of the bat to Deonarain at point. Five wickets down in the 19th over the RHCC run rate was drastically reduced to 7, still 167 runs away from their target.

Vijendra Singh, introduced into the attack in the 25th over, struck a double blow. Singh bowled Jerald Mangal (12) off his first ball then had Debo Sankar (35) sky a one to short mid-on, Mohabir, who showed great skill, taking the catch running backward. Deryck McDonald (23*) and Kumar Nandalal (59) combined for an 8th wicket partnership of 89 but it was too late. RHCC inning ended at 257 for 8 when the 40th over was bowled resulting in a 43 runs victory for Liberty SC.

Vijendra Singh finished with 2 for 13 off 3 overs while Ramdihal picked up 2 for 38 and Mohabir 2 for 46 off eight overs each. Carmichael and Kirton also picked up 1 wicket each for LSC.

#TheBlueNation moves to 8 – 1 in the EACA Cricket Zone 40-Over A-Division while RHCC is on 4-5. LSC will take on East Side Warriors at Brentwood while RHCC travels to Heckshire State Park to do battle with Atlantis CC-NY.
