Carmichael And Mohabir Spearhead Liberty SC Over ESW

For the third consecutive week, Trinson Carmichael turned in a game winning performance to spearhead a Liberty Sports Club (LSC) victory. Carmichael picked up 3 wickets for 27 runs and returned to score a sizzling 56 runs. Leon Mohabir also turned in another outstanding performance picking up 3 wickets for 10 runs as the GMA Enterprise and Royal Empress Banquet Hall sponsored LSC completed an 7 wicket win over East Side Warriors (ESW) in their Eastern American Cricket Association fixture.

Skipper Dilly Khilawan won the toss and asked the opposition to take first strike in Brentwood, New York.  Trevor Henry supported Khilawan’s decision handsomely when he sent back both openers early. Andre Kirton struck to remove the number four batsman to expose the ESW middle order. Sabeeh Rafique (23) and Umair Tahir (18) started a repair job and threatened to post a wholesome partnership for the 4th wicket. Carmichael had different plans, when he knocked over Rafique. Vijendra Singh followed suit and knocked over Tahir.

With the top five ESW batsmen out of the in the 18th over, with the score on 82, Carmichael and Mohabir mopped up the tail in quick time for with only 38 additional runs added to the total.

Henry finished with 2 for 30, Kirton 1 for 24 and Singh 1 for 20 to complement Mohabir’s 3 for 10 and Carmichael 3 for 27 while bowling out ESW for 120 in the 27th over.

Khilawan and Carmichael opened the chase for LSC and held nothing back. With Carmichael leading the way the pair raced to 54 in the 5th over before Khilawan was out for 10.  Carmichael maintained the momentum despite the loss of the wicket. The left-hander struck 11 fours and 1 six on his way to a blistering 56 to fast-forward the chase. Trevor Henry contributed 8 to the chase.

Kirton (10) and Jameel ‘Rockaway’ Ali (11) staged an unbeaten 22 runs partnership to overhaul the 121 needed in just 11.3 overs. Ricky Singh, Saud Alvi and Asfan Gujjar picked up 1 wicket each for ESW.
