Maryland Junior Cricket League action resumed yesterday in Baltimore County, where visiting Cockeysville stayed at the top of the table by winning its A match with local rival Lutherville-Timonium, while LTRC took the B match.

In what became the lowest-scoring match of the season, Cockeysville bested Lutherville-Timonium 47-19. CRC’s Alex Dua led all scorers with 14 (13) including a six, while teammamtes Sami Sabeeh and Harshil Patel each contributed 7 runs. For LTRC, Will Prestwich led with 7 (20) before being run out after some confusion on the wicket. Rey Sasaki was 4 (5) with a boundary.

It was truly a bowlers’ day, though. For Cockeysville, Avakash Bhat was 3-6 with two bowled, while Sami Sabeeh, Asher Khan and Harshil Patel each collected two scalps. Sabeeh surrendered only one run in his three overs, while Patel had two maidens in his four overs. For LTRC, Rishi Biswas took top honors, going 3-15, with two bowled. Kiran Herman and Aman Singh took a wicket each in the loss.

In the field, Harshil Patel made two catches and Alex Dua one for CRC, while Rishi Biswas, Jaspreet Singh, Will Prestwich and Mason Hart each took catches for Lutherville-Timonium.

In the B match, Lutherville-Timonium held on for a seven run victory, with Cockeysville’s Zach Dua scoring 23 runs while Steve Rose batted in 11 runs with 2 fours and also bowled a wicket maiden.

In Germantown, the home team scored solid wins over Bowie in both the A and B matches, winning by 74 in the A match and 45 in the B match.

In the A match, Germantown’s Bradford Desai led all with 24 runs in 22 balls, including a four and a six, while teammate Varun Gangadharan picked up 16 (12), plus a boundary, and Anav Babbar made 15 off only 6 including a four and a six. For Bowie, Jeffrey Archer top-scored with 16 (21) with two boundaries, while Tyler Chotoo smashed a six as he registered 9 from 10 balls.

For the bowlers, Germantown’s Dheeraj Sharma was 3-14 plus a maiden, while Dilhan Salgado was 2-3 with a maiden. Bradford Desai, Anav Babbar and Jay Joshi also took wickets for Germantown. For Bowie, Tyler Chotoo, Travis Hansen and Faaris Rizvi were the wicket-takers.

In the field, Dheeraj Sharma took two catches for Germantown, while for Bowie, Faaris Rizv took a catch and Travis Hansen had a run out.

In the B match, Germantown’s Aman Jaiman scored 10 from 12 balls, while Ishaan Verma made 8 (7) and Kshitij Gupta was 7 (15). For Bowie, Alyssa Logan led with 6 (13) and Nathan Zacharski was 4 (8). Jay Desai was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for Germantown, three of which were bowled. Desai also had a maiden over. Teammate Saurav Pandey took two wickets and also had one bowled and a maiden over. For Bowie, Nathan Zacharski was 2-14, while Aidan Nathan and Rishi Khosla also took wickets.

Taking catches were Germantown’s Harbin Singh and Ishaan Verma while Bowie’s Joseph Zacharski had a run out.

Next week, Cockeysville hosts Bowie while Lutherville-Timonium travels to Germantown, with the winners playing for the Maryland Youth Cricket Championship on July 28.
