On an overcast Sunday afternoon, Combined Warriors made their 2014 debut in the Commonwealth Cricket League T20 tournament against Yonkers Eagles.

Richie Gayadeen of Combined Warriors had a solid game taking 3 for 10 and struck 24 from 14 balls.

Yonkers Eagles were looking forward to fly high against the Warriors but their wings was clipped before take-off.

Yonkers Eagles won the toss and elected to bat, sending Hasif and Mohin to open the batting. Eagles batting seem to click, they had 30 runs in three overs, but at the beginning of the fourth over pacer N. Drysdale got the break through, he then removed the second and third batsman. Hasif (21) was the only Eagles batsman to score in double digit.

Warriors’ bowler kept breaking Eagles players’ furniture as they crumbled for 73 runs in 17 overs. Warriors bowling stars was Drysdale 3 wicket for 20 runs, Richie Gayadeen 3 wicket for 10 runs, Andy 2 wicket for 5 runs, and Oscar 2 wicket for 13 runs.

Warriors opening pair Wayne and Anderson went in with sense of urgency to win the game. However, both of them fell at the hands of Ali and Azar playing one too many strokes. With the score 30-2, Richie Gayadeen went to the crease and score a quick 24 in 14 balls by blasting 3 sixes. Drysdale score 14 runs off 4 balls. The run chase was over by the 9th over scoring 75 runs to register their first win in the Commonwealth Cricket League T20 tournament.
