(Celebrating 46th Anniversary): – Cosmos got off to a rather dismal start to their T20 campaign when they suffered a heavy lost to Intruders at Baisley Cage last Sunday morning. Captain Devindra Balgobin was left with a rather weakened outfit but he was up for the challenge and rallied his team.

Intruders won the toss and elected to bat posted a good total courtesy of a series of blunders in the field. Cosmos missed two simple chances in the powerplay overs to give the opponent an ‘all clear’ as they raced to 67 runs. Ryan Ganesh got the breakthrough when he removed M. Gomes (30), but Cosmos just couldn’t get their grip on the match as their fielding was below par with missed opportunities went begging at crucial stages in the middle overs as the opposition pushed their total to a reasonable 178 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Cosmos in their reply never recovered from an early lost of wickets and thereafter, their middle order struggled to offer any meaningful challenge to the opposition total despite a brief counterattack from Ryan Ganesh (14) and Devin Persaud (12).
Cosmos though found themselves in early trouble courtesy of a few extremely poor officiating decisions that damper this match and that which leaves a lot to be desired, unfortunately, these ‘makeshifts’ officials seems to be the order of the day. Doneshwar Dayanand offered some of his stylistic out in the middle to strengthen the tail but it was shortlived as Abid Ali and Hemraj Bhimchan didn’t trouble the scorecard and the Cosmos inning closed on disappointing 54 all out.
