In beautiful sunshine at Flushing Meadows Park, Meten-Meer-Zorg cricket club hosted Falcon cricket club. Skipper Azurdeen Mohammed won the toss and decided to bat first. It was the skipper himself with the attacking Richie Sieuchand to open the batting for the MMZ.

Deonauth Baksh hits an unbeaten 105 against Falcon.

Falcons cricket team opened their attack with Komal Shamsundar and Manoj Shamsundar. Mohammed and Sieuchand stroking the ball well on a wicket that was playing very uncertain, both batsmen was tested with some good pace, Sieuchand was hit by M. Shamsundar on the wrist by one that bounce from short of a good length and had to get treatment. The spinners replaced the pacers to stop the flow of runs. With the score on 75 Mohammed was out to a brilliant catch off the bowling of the left arm spinner veteran Jagdat Hardeen for a well played 27.

Then “Dependable” Bash walk to the crease to join Sieuchand, the two experience former national players batted brilliantly playing some glorious shots to bring the MMZ spectators off their feet. Sieuchand bring up his half century with a smashing cover drive for four as Baksh was timing the ball sweetly hitting some beautiful shots as he brought up his half century with a sweetly timed on drive for four. With the score board reading 165, Sieuchand went down the track and was out stumped for a well played 55.

Baksh was joined by the young attractive USA under 19 player Travis Ross. Baksh was stroking the ball nicely around the park to move in the 90s, Ross was batting well turning the strike over to his partner. Baksh brings up his well deserve century with a magnificent shot through mid-wicket for four, his chance less century includes thirteen well timed boundaries. MMZ closed there innings on 245 for two off their 40 overs, with Baksh left unbeaten for a well played 105 and Trevis Ross 24.

Bowling for Falcons J. Hardeen picked up 1 for 43 and G. Ram 1 for 50.

Falcon started their innings with Jagdat Hardeen and Gewan Ram. It was Rocky Kowchai and the young Rahaynul Islam to open the bowling attack for the MMZ. Hardeen smashed Kowchai first delivery back over his head for four, with the score on 15 Hardeen trying to go over extra cover was well caught by the skipper for 7 off Kowchai.

Skipper Mohammed took off the fast men and brought on the experienced Richie Sieuchand and USA under 19 player Amarnath Persaud, Sieuchand immediately got success as he bowled Harripersaud with a quicker one for 8. Falcons pair of Gewan Ram and Suraj Deopaul was smashing the ball over the boundary with ease as they were ahead of the run rate, with the darken clouds started to appear around the park the MMZ boys trying to get through the overs quickly with Gandhi replacing Persaud. Falcons were 95 for 2 in 16 overs way ahead of MMZ run rate at that time.

The Falcon players were hoping that the clouds would burst open; however the sun came out in all its glory, with the score on 105 Deopaul was bowled by Ross who had replaced Gandhi for a well played 24. Rishram Horril came in and was out LBW by Mohammed for 14. It was Zulfikar Ali and Ram who put some tension in the MMZ camp. Ali was very attacking hitting some huge sixes out the park, Ram who was batting well tried to hit Gandhi for a second six in a row held out to Persaud who took a fine catch for a well played 41. Meer Hosain came in and was out caught for a duck. Komal Samsunadr joins the aggressive Ali who survives an easy stumping chance. He made the most of it and threatens the MMZ boys. Mohammed came back for a second spell and had Ali trapped LBW for a well played 45.Manoj Samsundar came in and played some attacking stroke, his partner Komal played well until he was undone by a quicker one by Sieuchand for 25. Falcon was eventually bowled out for 219 in the 39th over.
