Eight San Francisco Unicorns Domestic Players Return For MLC 2025
San Francisco Unicorns, the Bay Area’s Major League Cricket T20 franchise, has announced its domestic player retentions ahead of the 2025 tournament, with former USA captain Corey Anderson, former England international Liam Plunkett, and breakout players Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Hassan Khan among the eight to continue on the roster.
Under the coaching leadership of Shane Watson, the Unicorns have endeavored to retain the majority of the playing core that led the franchise to the MLC final last year, with an established mix of proven experience and dynamic youth in both the batting and bowling departments.

Unicorns’ captain Corey Anderson has been retained, providing the leadership and all-rounder abilities that have underpinned much of the team’s success over the past two seasons. He will be assisted by World Cup winner Liam Plunkett, pacemen Carmi Le Roux, Brody Couch, and Juanoy Drysdale, as well as spinner Karima Gore.
Hassan Khan, winner of MLC 2024’s Bart King Award for best domestic player, will also continue on the Unicorns’ books, providing both proven power-hitting and wicket-taking ability, as well as Sanjay Krishnamurthi, one of the team’s standout batters from the last campaign.
Shane Watson, Head Coach of the San Francisco Unicorns, said: “Building a successful cricket franchise for the long run requires both consistency in personnel and quality on the pitch, and we’re pleased that we’ve secured some of the best domestic players and emerging talents in the USA to help us to glory this year.
“The likes of Hassan Khan and Sanjay Krishnamurthi were amongst the top performers league-wide last year, and having seen the whole group develop over the winter, we know they’ll have a lot more to offer this time around under the very capable, committed leadership of Corey [Anderson] and Liam [Plunkett] whose presence around the locker room shouldn’t be underestimated.”
San Francisco Unicorns will look to kick on from 2024 and go one step further to land the MLC 2025 trophy, and with one of the league’s most consistent domestic rosters returning with more experience for this year’s edition, another successful campaign is on the cards.
