Houston Cricket League (HCL) is proud to announce the kick-off of the 2016 Sunoco LP F40 Cup. Eighteen of 27 teams played their first match of the season, but the most notable one was the clash between 2015 F40 champions, TCC Titans, and 2015 T20 champions Stallions.
After an exciting start, the teams are looking forward to a long and promising 2016 tournament.
The tournament has a promotion and relegation structure, with 27 teams spread across three divisions based on competitiveness – Division I being the most competitive. These teams will play 167 matches in the F40 season and 125 matches in the T20 season, with the two top ranked teams in Division II and III being promoted to the next higher division, and the two lowest ranked teams in Division I and II being relegated to the next lower division in the coming year. There are 10 cricket grounds in Houston that are “home” to 13 cricket clubs.
A parallel Sunoco LP T20 cup will be kicked off in July, and will be played thru August and then will continue after the Sunoco LP F40 finals. The final match of the Sunoco LP F40 Cup will be played on November 6, 2016 (weather permitting), and one would hope that it turns out to be as thrilling as ever.
Houston cricket lovers will also get an opportunity to witness the youngest cricketers competing for a title sponsored by HCL on the same day. Please visit www.houstoncricket.org for more information.
