EACA 40-Overs Tournament
Nadesh Basdeo’s century led Hillside Sports Club to a win against Victory Cricket Club on Sunday June 8, 2014 at Brentwood Park in Long Island.

Nadesh Basdeo hit 106 which included fourteen fours and four sixes.

The game began with Victory winning the toss and decided to take first strike scoring 235 for 8 off the allotted 40 overs. Victory’s leading batsman Sai Krishna Veeravelli scored 68 runs and was supported by Shravan Gadeela 45, Harleen Singh 30 and Zeeshan Syed 28.

Bowling for Hillside, A. Shazad took 3 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs; S. Rahim took 2 wickets for 29 runs in 8 overs and J. Mangal took 1 wicket for 39 runs in 8 overs.

Sayeed Allie and Harry Heeralall opened the batting for Hillside. After smashing two consecutive fours Sayeed Allie was brilliantly caught behind off the bowling of Harleen Singh.

Nadesh Basdeo then joined Harry Heeralall and his first ball of the 3rd over he drove it back straight over the bowlers head for 6 runs, he then smashed the remaining five balls for five fours (26 off the over).

N. Basdeo, who took most of the strikes did not have any mercy for the Victory’s bowlers, his first 50 of the innings came in 15 deliveries and he continued to dominate the entire innings by stroking his way to his first century for Hillside Sports Club. Nadesh Basdeo is a very consistent batsman who always has a number of half centuries for Hillside.

His innings came to an end with a well-made 106 runs and was well supported by H. Heeralall who made 40 runs and S. Rahim 33 not out saw Hillside reached their target of 236 for 6 in 28 overs.

Navjot Singh, was the only successful bowler for Victory Cricket Club who had figures of 3 for 67 off 8 overs.
