Ireland Women Crush Thailand, Scotland Women Beat USA to Qualify
Ireland and Scotland both booked their places at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with victories on the final day of the qualifying event.
Ireland comfortably beat Thailand by 62 runs to seal their ticket to this summer’s tournament, before Scotland got past the USA by 41 runs.
Bangladesh also wrapped up their campaign with a seven-wicket win over the Netherlands to ensure they finished with a perfect record in Nepal, with both sides already qualified ahead of the encounter.

Scotland Women produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat the United States of America Women in Super Six Match 9 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Sunday. Powered by a fluent half-century from Darcey Carter and backed up by disciplined bowling, Scotland posted a competitive 178 for 8 before restricting the USA to 137 all out in 19 overs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Scotland made an assertive start despite losing early wickets. Katherine Fraser struck a brisk 17 from 10 balls before being dismissed at 42, a score that also saw the immediate loss of skipper Kathryn Bryce for a first-ball duck. Carter then took control of the innings, anchoring Scotland’s recovery with a confident knock of 52 from 34 deliveries, laced with seven fours and two sixes. Her innings provided the backbone of the total and ensured Scotland maintained momentum through the middle overs.
Support came from Ailsa Lister, who compiled a well-paced 43 off 32 balls, and Priyanaz Chatterji, whose late-order 39 from 28 balls gave the innings further impetus. Despite regular breakthroughs from the USA attack, including four wickets from Tara Norris (4 for 33) and a tidy spell from Maahi Madhavan (2 for 23), Scotland continued to find boundaries at key moments. Carter’s dismissal at 113 in the 12th over briefly slowed progress, but Chatterji’s late flourish helped Scotland close strongly at 178 for 8.
In reply, the USA innings faltered early when Disha Dhingra was dismissed without scoring in the first over. Chetna Pagydyala and Ella Claridge attempted to rebuild, with Claridge top-scoring for the USA with a composed 35 off 26 balls. Pagydyala added 24, but Scotland’s bowlers applied consistent pressure, preventing any sustained partnerships from developing.
Kathryn Bryce led from the front with the ball, claiming 2 for 29, while Chloe Abel (2 for 16) and Priyanaz Chatterji (2 for 11) delivered key breakthroughs in the middle and death overs. Regular wickets stalled the chase, and although cameos from Ritu Singh (16), Tara Norris (17), and Aditi Chudasama (13) briefly kept hopes alive, the required run rate steadily climbed out of reach.

Sharp fielding further aided Scotland, with two run-outs underlining their intensity in the field. The USA were eventually bowled out for 137 in the final over, handing Scotland a comprehensive 41-run victory.
Darcey Carter was named Player of the Match for her match-defining half-century, a performance that set the tone for Scotland’s dominant showing in this crucial Super Six encounter.
