Los Angeles Lashings Edge San Ramon Grizzlies by 4 Wickets
The Minor League Cricket West Division match between the San Ramon Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lashings, played at Davis on Sept. 1st, produced an exciting contest that ended with the Lashings sealing a four-wicket victory. Despite a gritty effort from San Ramon’s top order, the Lashings chased down the target of 138 with two balls to spare, thanks to a blistering half-century from Player of the Match, Mayank Raghav.

San Ramon Grizzlies, after winning the toss and electing to bat, never found the momentum to post a daunting total. Aaron Johnson provided a brisk start with 24 runs, but his dismissal to Zahid Zakhil slowed the progress. Opener Rahul Jariwala then held the innings together with a composed 37, featuring three boundaries and two sixes. He found some support from middle-order batsman Aakash Sundaresan, who struck 36 runs at a steady pace, keeping the scoreboard ticking with a mix of boundaries and calculated strokes. However, frequent wickets pegged San Ramon back.
Sahil Garg chipped in with 21 runs, but no other batter reached double digits as the Grizzlies collapsed from 129/4 to 137 all out. The Lashings’ bowlers maintained discipline, with Gayan Fernando leading the attack by claiming two key wickets for 26 runs. He was well supported by Rubal Raina, Zakhil, and Sundaresan, who shared the rest of the wickets.
Defending a modest total of 137, San Ramon’s bowlers struck early to dismiss opener Mohammed Ishaq for 14, courtesy of Taj Wali. However, the spotlight soon shifted to Mayank Raghav, who played a dazzling knock at the top of the order. His 55 off just 30 balls included six towering sixes and three boundaries, ripping apart the Grizzlies’ attack. Raghav’s aggressive approach set the tone for the chase, and although he was dismissed by Sundaresan, he had already laid the foundation for the Lashings’ pursuit.
The middle order offered resistance as wickets fell at regular intervals. Ajayveer Hundal contributed 17, while Harpreet Singh and Aryan Chowdhury scored 18 and 14 respectively. Yet, it was the calm finish from Achilles Browne (6 not out) and Elmore Hutchinson (2 not out) that ensured Los Angeles crossed the line in 19.2 overs.
For San Ramon, left-arm seamer Taj Wali bowled impressively, picking up three wickets for 21 runs in his four overs, while Sundaresan claimed two crucial scalps. Despite their efforts, the total proved insufficient against a determined Lashings batting lineup.
Raghav’s explosive innings rightfully earned him the Player of the Match award, as the Lashings tightened their grip in the West Division standings.
