Excellent performances from Rocky Kowchai and Deonauth Baksh help MMZ CC to beat East Side Warriors (ESW). East Side Warriors won the toss and decided to bat first in bright sunshine. They were off to a flyer with Sabee Rafique hitting boundaries all over the park.

MMZ young opening pair of Rocky Kowchai and Bilal Shahid were bowling with great pace and good control claiming some early wickets. First to go was Saud Alvi who was caught at mid on and then Kowchai had Ali Alvi brilliantly caught by the young wicket keeper Clifford Hamilton who is playing his first game for the MMZ boys. Rafique on the other hand was batting well bringing up his 50 with a huge six over mid wicket. Azurdeen Mohammed and Deonauth Baksh put a check to the scoring with Baksh picking up 3 for 49 off 8 overs.

Zaeed Majeed bowled well to claim the important wicket of Sabeeh Rafeeque who end up with a 101. Asgarally brought back Bilal Shahid and Rocky Kowchai to clean up the rest of the ESW batting line up, Kowchai finishes with brilliant figures off 7 overs 16 runs 4 wickets, Bilal 2 for 45 and Majeed 1 for 49. East Side Warriors end up with 207 all out off 37.5 overs.

Meten-Meer-Zorg opened the batting with the young talented Andy Mohammed and the Veteran Ken Nandkumar. With both batsmen in good form, the MMZ 50 came up in just 36 balls with Mohammed and Nandkumar hitting some fine shots all over. First to go was Mohammed cutting to backward point and then Nandkumar was caught behind.

This brought the pair of the experienced Deonath Baksh and the debutant Trevis Ross to the crease. This is Trevis first game representing Meten-Meer Zorg. Both batsmen was in superb form smashing the ball to all part of the field, Trevis played some fine shots before holding out in the deep for a well played 42 which includes six glorious fours. Baksh played very well to bring up his 50, he was eventually out trying to go big and was out caught for a well played 68. The young wicket keeper Clifford Hamilton and Zaaid Majeed saw MMZ reaching their target off 23.2 overs. Scores in the match were ESW 207 all out off 37.5 overs and MMZ 211 for 6 wickets off 23.2 overs. MMZ won by 4 wkts.

Meten-Meer-Zorg CC having played 10 games won 6 lost 2 and tied 2 is now on 36 points. With two games remaining MMZ CC is hoping to finish very strong. The MMZ captain Ajaz Asgarally is very pleased to have the youngsters of Trevis Ross and Clifford Hamillton in his squad. He is also hoping to have US under player Amarnath Persaud back in his line up in time for the play offs.

Richmond Hill vs Hillside

Richmond Hill Cricket Club won the toss and sent Hillside to take first strike at the famous Baisley Park (cage) under bright sunshine. They would struggle to 92 all out in 24 overs.

Bowling for Richmond Hill Vishal Nagamootoo 2 for 27, Ramphal Bactowar 3 for 15, Steve Mangru 2 for 6 and Derick McDonald 1 for 41 would keep them in check as wickets fell at regular intervals. Ronald Evelyn was brilliant in the field taking three catches.

In reply Richmond Hill would hit off the required 92 runs for the lost of 2 wickets. Vishal Nagamootoo 16 and Debo Sankar 46 were the two batsmen dismissed. Royo Sankar and Zaheer Sadloo were left on 16 and 5 not out respectively and saw Richmond Hill home in the 14th over.
