EACA 40-Overs Tournament | Scorecard Below
On a beautiful father’s day at Flushing Meadows Park the Meten –Meer-Zorg (MMZ) sporting their new outfit of grey, lined with streaks of lime green on their shirts took on the experienced Camelot. Mr. Latiff the lone umpire got the game under way on time with Camelot winning the toss and decided to bat first, on a nice hard placid tract.

Meten –Meer-Zorg skipper Andy Mohammed decided to give the young Rohan Permaul the new ball who was making his debut for the MMZ, from the Long Island Expressway end with the talented Rayhanul Islam taken up the City Field end. Permaul found it difficult to keep the white ball on the square giving away some nine wides in his first over. It was Islam who made some early inroads into Camelot batting line up bowling out his spell picking up the wickets of Jerry Persaud caught by the wicketkeeper Andre Persaud for 14, Andrew Persaud was  caught by Saud Hussain for 7 and Ashfaqur Polash bowled for 3 finishing  a brilliant spell of swing bowling of 8 overs 5 maidens 5 runs and picking up 3 wickets .Shines Beepat  who replaced Permaul kept things tight at the other end bowling a good line and length finishing with figures of 7 overs none for 27, he was replaced by Chris Sirkisoon and Islam was replaced by the off spinner Zaaid Majeed , the spin duo cleaned up the Camelot batting by picking up 3 wickets each to dismiss the distraught batting of Camelot for a paltry 69 runs.

Bowling for MMZ CC, R. Islam 8-5-5-3, R. Permaul 1-0-2-0, S. Beepat 7-0-27-0, Z. Majeed 4-0-7-3, and Chris Sirkisoon 4-1-7-3.

With the delicacies on its way for the feast that was planned for this special day, the openers USA player Andy Mohammed and the stylish right hander Glen Meyer walked out to the middle. Meyer as usual in his calm elegant way played a fine cover drive to get off the mark he looked compact and set for a long inning; the bowler Narayan Persaud had other thoughts. Meyer got an unfortunate delivery that kept low and never got up higher than ankle height and was bowled.  The dismissal of Meyer gave another debutant; former USA under 19 players the attacking, flamboyant Sumon Bari an opportunity to show case his talent, both Mohammed and Bari would see MMZ home without further loss. The pair batted well with Bari playing some crisps shots and look very solid at the crease,  Andy Mohammed played his natural attacking game hitting four  sweetly timed boundaries  and one huge six,  he finish unbeaten on 40, summon Bari finish off things with 2 massive sixes to left unbeaten on 20. MMZ reached their target finishing on 72 off 8.2 overs.

MMZ now on 15 points having lost one game and won 3 will take on the powerful Richmond Hill cricket team. It will definitely be a great match up between these two teams especially with the inclusion of the former USA Under 19 player Sumon Bari to the MMZ squad. The game is schedule to be played at Flushing Meadows Park # 1 ground, game time 1pm.
