Bangladesh and the Netherlands have booked two of the four available spots at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 as the Super Six stage of the Qualifier got underway.

The Netherlands will play in their first ever T20 World Cup after quick scoring saw them to victory over the USA by DLS method

Bangladesh beat Thailand by 39 runs as Sobhana Mostary top-scored with 59, while Kathryn Bryce delivered with bat and ball to see Scotland defeat Ireland by the same margin.

The Netherlands Women produced a commanding all-round performance to register a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over the United States of America Women in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Wednesday.

After winning the toss, USA elected to bat first on a surface that offered some early movement before settling into a decent batting wicket. Their innings began cautiously, with Chetna Pagydyala and Gargi Bhogle attempting to lay a steady foundation. Pagydyala struggled to find fluency and was bowled by Heather Siegers for 12 in the sixth over, setting the tone for a disciplined Netherlands bowling display.

Bhogle was the most assured batter for the USA at the top, anchoring the innings with a well-compiled 36 off 37 balls, including three boundaries and a six. However, regular wickets prevented the Americans from building momentum. Ella Claridge fell cheaply, and the pressure mounted as the Netherlands bowlers tightened their lines. Caroline de Lange struck twice in quick succession, removing Bhogle and Ritu Singh, to leave the USA wobbling at 79 for 4 midway through the 15th over.

Isani Vaghela played a crucial role in stabilizing the innings, showing composure and placement in her unbeatenoved 32 off 35 balls. Her partnership with the lower order ensured the USA reached a competitive, if slightly under-par, total. A late cameo from Pooja Ganesh, who struck 15 off just seven deliveries, briefly lifted the run rate, but Hannah Landheer’s three-wicket haul ensured the USA were restricted to 129 for 7. Heather Siegers was particularly impressive, conceding just 19 runs from her four overs while claiming a wicket.

In reply, the Netherlands made light work of the chase, led by an explosive opening burst from Heather Siegers. She immediately put the USA bowlers under pressure, smashing 28 off just 12 balls with three towering sixes. Her aggressive intent effectively tilted the contest within the powerplay, as the Netherlands raced to 57 for 1 by the end of the sixth over.

After Siegers was dismissed by Tara Norris, Phebe Molkenboer took control of the innings with a composed and assured knock. Batting with maturity, Molkenboer struck 46 not out from 43 balls, finding the gaps consistently and rotating the strike smartly. Babette de Leede provided brief support before falling to Ritu Singh, but by then the result was all but sealed.

With Sterre Kalis offering calm support at the end, the Netherlands cruised to 90 for 2 in just 12 overs, comfortably surpassing the target on Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculations after rain interruption. Heather Siegers was deservedly named Player of the Match for her impactful all-round contribution, underlining the Netherlands’ dominance in a crucial qualifier encounter.
