Atlantis Toy Drive Collection
December 20, 2013 – Atlantis Cricket Club – NY today delivered scores of toys as part of its holiday cheer to the children of some less fortunate families in the COPE program at Kingsborough Community College (CUNY), Brooklyn, NY.

As part of its holiday tradition for more than a decade now, the New York based cricket club handed over the toys donated by its members and friends, to Ms. Marie Mandara, (3rd from right in picture) Director of the COPE program at the City University of New York Community College.  Atlantis’ president Steve Welcome (2nd from right in picture) and the club’s community liaison officer Leslie “Tulu” Lewis (at extreme right) made the presentation on behalf of Atlantis. The toys were later distributed to the children at a holiday party, complete with Santa Claus in attendance.

Ms. Mandara, in acknowledging the donation of the toys said, “My office is extremely grateful to Atlantis Cricket Club for its continued support of our program. We appreciate the contribution of the club’s members and friends each year.”

Atlantis’ next community event is the collection and donation of slightly used winter coats for men, women and children in the New York area. According to Atlantis’ president Steve Welcome, “We have already started this year’s collection and hope to hand over the coats to a charity organization in the next few days.” He added, “Donations are still being accepted.” If you wish to make a contribution contact any member of the club directly, or via an inbox message on the club’s facebook page at www.facebook.com/atlantisccny.org

ABOUT COPE
COPE is the College Opportunity to Prepare for Employment program established 20 years ago to provide support services to a population of students receiving public assistance through the Human Resources Administration of New York City. The program is geared towards students enrolled full time in approved vocationally-oriented associate degree programs, and is collaboration between the City University of New York (CUNY) and the City of New York’s Human Resources Administration Office of Employment Services.

The program provides various forms of support ranging from assistance in locating child care, to job placement and counseling, for families in need and attending CUNY colleges.
