Cosmos produced an excellent all-round performance against Alliance/Renegades when the two teams met at Marine Park #3 ground last Sunday in the New York National Cricket League T20 competition. Devindra Balgobin won the toss and elected to bat first on a tricky track that had the remnants of overnight dew. Cosmos got off to good start before Vitindra Koomar holed out on the mid-on boundary with the score on 27 at the end of the powerplay.

The fall of Koomar’s wicket was the only whiff the opposition got in this match as Latchman Bisram and Antanio Rooplall proceeded to launch an aggressive assault on the opposition bowling attack. Bisram, in particular, unleashed a few dismissive blows over extra-cover and mid-off to open his inning while Rooplall was more measured albeit cracking the occasional boundary to keep the run-rate quite healthy.

With the sun beaming down Bisram and Rooplall was blazing along and timed their onslaught in the later overs. Rooplall shifted gears from his usually subdued mode with a few crisply timed pulls through mid-wicket. He fell for a 63-ball 80 runs when he played across to a full delivery in the 19th over with the score on 159 for 2. Bisram then ripped into the opposition attack late in the closing overs. He was brutal on anything in the slot over mid-wicket region.

The pair Rooplall (80) and Bisram (79*) constructed an excellent 2nd wicket partnership of 132 runs.
