A brilliant and undefeated captain’s knock of 86 and a very crucial and supportive innings of 34 not out from C. LaFleur propelled the Unity Cricket Club to victory over Royal Challengers.
Royal Challengers winning the toss and deciding to bat first, they made 217 for 5 in their 30 overs. Main contributors were K. Persaud who was very unfortunate not to get a well deserved century, falling for 97 and B. Persaud 31 not out. Bowling for Unity, G. Charles took 2 for 29 and T. Beaton finished with 2 for 36.
Taking their turn at the crease, Unity Cricket Club were soon in dire straits, having 5 batsmen back in the pavilion with just 69 runs on board at the half way stage of their innings and still needing 149 more for a win. On resuming the second half, this was when the fireworks started, with all bowlers from Royal Challengers being taken to the sword with fours and sixes raining all over the ground. Pretty soon, it was all over by the 27th over with Unity ending up on 218 for 5.
To the Unity Cricket Club team, once again congratulations are in order and remember guys, in UNITY there is strength.
