In a low scoring match at Church Street Park, Morrisville, the Seattle Orcas claimed the top spot in the league standings by outclassing the Texas Super Kings in a dominant display. Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the Orcas set the tone with a formidable performance on the field.

The Texas Super Kings faced an early setback as Devon Conway departed for a duck on the very first ball of the innings. Faf Du Plessis and Cody Chetty provided some stability, but their contributions were cut short during the initial powerplay. Subsequently, the Super Kings struggled to build partnerships as wickets tumbled quickly, leaving them in a precarious position.

Dwyane Bravo and Daniel Sams fought back valiantly against the fierce Orcas’ bowling attack, guiding the Super Kings past the 100-run mark. However, a fiery final over led by Seattle Orcas’ captain Wayne Parnell shattered the Super Kings’ hopes, as he secured three quick wickets. Ultimately, the Texas Super Kings were dismissed for a modest 127 in their allotted 20 overs. Wayne Parnell’s exceptional spell earned him five wickets, while Andrew Tye grabbed two, and Imad Wasim and Cameron Gannon took one wicket each.

In pursuit of victory, the Seattle Orcas’ openers Quinton de Kock and Nauman Anwar set a solid foundation, building a 67-run partnership within 11 overs. Despite losing Anwar after a promising start, de Kock showcased his prowess with a splendid half-century. Heinrich Klaasen and Dasun Shanaka continued the charge, taking the Orcas past the 100-run mark by the 15th over.

The Super Kings’ bowlers struggled to contain Klaasen’s onslaught, as he powered his way to an unbeaten 42, well-supported by Shanaka (10*). The Seattle Orcas cruised to a remarkable victory within just 16 overs, cementing their position at the top of the table. Mitchell Santner and Mohammad Mohsin were the lone wicket-takers for the Texas Super Kings, but their efforts couldn’t deter the Orcas’ triumphant march.

This outstanding performance by the Seattle Orcas demonstrated their mettle as they continue to stamp their authority in the Major League Cricket tournament.
