In a thrilling encounter of the 2025 Summer T30 League Division I, the Texans Kings secured a commanding victory over Maroon Knights at Katy South East on August 2, 2025. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Kings posted a formidable total of 239 for 9 in their allotted 30 overs, thanks to a sensational knock by Sher Afzal, who was later named Player of the Match for his match-winning all-round performance.

Sher Afzal led from the front with a blistering 89 off just 47 balls, which included 9 fours and 5 sixes, scoring at a strike rate of 189.36. He shared a solid opening stand with Hamza Shahzad, who contributed 41 from 31 deliveries, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Zahidur Rahman chipped in with a useful 29 before the middle order faltered under pressure from a disciplined Maroon Knights bowling attack.

Despite the dip in momentum, the Kings managed to cross the 230-run mark, helped along by 27 extras conceded by the Knights. Udit Pilania was the pick of the bowlers for Maroon Knights, taking 3 wickets for just 28 runs in his 6 overs, while Tanveer Singh Sodhi and Srihan Challa picked up two wickets apiece.

Chasing a steep target of 240, the Maroon Knights got off to a steady start with opener Aman Yadav scoring 29 and Maurya Shah adding 35. However, the game turned sharply in favor of the Texans Kings when Sher Afzal made an impact with the ball as well, picking up three crucial wickets for 35 runs in his six overs. He dismissed Yadav, Abhinay Vadluri, and Tanveer Singh, dismantling the Knights’ top and middle order.

Srihan Challa tried to steady the ship with a well-fought 54 off 51 balls, but the lack of support from the rest of the batting lineup proved costly. The lower order couldn’t build momentum, as wickets fell regularly thanks to disciplined bowling by Linde Scorer (2 for 5) and tight spells from Murtaza Hashwani and Umair Shallwani.

In the end, the Maroon Knights could only manage 182 for 8 in their 30 overs, falling 57 runs short of the target. Texans Kings’ all-round effort, spearheaded by Sher Afzal’s explosive batting and effective bowling, ensured a comprehensive victory and strengthened their position in the Division I standings.
