Cricket in Massachusetts continues to grow from strength to strength and this was recently underscored by the selection of Dilip Chavan, Parak Ananta and Deepak Chadha to the India team competing at the Over 50s Cricket World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa from March 10th-24th.

All 42 matches will stream live on PitchVision at https://www.pitchvision.com/ #/pv-matches, using their great interactive scorecard technology.

Dilip Chavan who is also the President of the Massachusetts State Cricket League MSCL (www.mscl.org) and grew up in Mumbai, India, said “playing with amazing talented cricketers including former International players like, Dave Callaghan, Mark Alleyne, Eddo Brandes in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa is simply a dream come true and priceless.”

The Over-50s Cricket World Cup is about bringing the best over-50s cricketers in the world to test their skills against one another in the spirit of competitiveness and camaraderie.

Parak Ananta, who chose a career in medicine over cricket when he was 17, had always wondered what might have happened had he chosen a career in cricket. He can now at least be sure his cricket journey might have been rather special.

The three musketeers tried out in Mumbai in December 2019 with many other talented cricketers of Indian origin, and came through the selection process and made it to the Over 50 Team India squad.

Deepak, who works in the Biotech industry, captured his pride at being selected to play for India “It has finally started to sink in that I will be representing India at the Over 50 World Cup. It means everything to me as a cricketer. I’ve prepared and worked hard to get to this point but it’s not done yet – the best is yet to come.”

For the dynamic trio who all represent the iconic Boston Gymkhana Sports Club, it really does prove that life begins at 50, at least for cricketers!

The MSCL wishes these three legends the best of luck as they look to fulfill their life time dream and in the process make their entire MSCL family proud.
