At the picturesque Entebbe Cricket Ground, League USA Women secured a hard-fought 20-run victory over Uganda A Women in the Women’s Easter T20 Cup on April 10, 2026, overcoming early setbacks to deliver a disciplined all-round performance.

After Uganda A Women won the toss and elected to field, USA Women endured a shaky start. Openers Sainavi Kambalapalli and Nikhar Doshi struggled to find rhythm against a tidy Ugandan bowling attack, with both falling cheaply to leave the side under pressure at 38 for 3 inside eight overs. Chetna Reddy Pagydyala’s early dismissal further compounded the situation, as the innings threatened to unravel.

Isani Vaghela

However, a steadying partnership between Isani Mahesh Vaghela and Pooja Ganesh proved pivotal. Vaghela anchored the innings with a composed 35 off 29 deliveries, striking three boundaries, while Ganesh contributed a patient 26 from 34 balls. Their stand helped rebuild the innings and guide USA Women toward a competitive total. Despite a flurry of late run-outs that stalled momentum in the closing overs, the side managed to post 107 for 7 from their 20 overs.

Uganda’s bowlers shared the workload effectively, with Asumin Akurut leading the attack with 2 for 13 in her four overs, while Sarah Walaza chipped in with a wicket and maintained tight control.

Chasing 108, Uganda A Women began cautiously but lost an early wicket when Hope Shillah Mbeiza was bowled for a duck. Jimia Abdallah Muhammed then anchored the innings with a determined 37 off 41 balls, keeping the hosts in contention through the middle overs. She found support from Asumin Akurut, who added 23, but the pair struggled to accelerate against disciplined bowling.

The turning point came through the outstanding spell of Player of the Match Aditi Chudasama. Delivering a match-winning performance, she claimed 4 wickets for just 12 runs in her four overs, dismantling the middle and lower order at crucial intervals. Her breakthroughs included the key dismissals of Akurut, Mary Namiiro, and Lorna Anyait, effectively halting Uganda’s chase.

With additional support from Ritu Priya Singh, Sainavi Kambalapalli, and Taranum Chopra, who each picked up a wicket, USA Women maintained control throughout the innings. Uganda A Women ultimately fell short, finishing on 87 for 7 in their 20 overs.

The victory highlighted USA Women’s resilience after a challenging start with the bat and underscored their bowling depth, with Chudasama’s exceptional spell proving decisive in sealing a well-earned win.
