USA Books Spot for 2026 Women’s T20 Global Qualifier
An impressive performance from USA at the regional qualifier event in Argentina has seen them earn a place at the global qualifier for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The United States of America Women’s cricket team delivered a commanding performance against Canada Women in Match 12 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier, 2025, held at St Albans Club, Corimayo. Winning the toss, USA elected to bat first and put up a competitive total, followed by a dominant bowling display that secured them a massive 78-run victory.

USA Women started their innings steadily, with opener Disha Dhingra scoring 16 off 23 balls before falling to Terisha Lavia. Chetna Pagydyala provided stability with a crucial 35 off 33 balls, anchoring the innings. Ella Claridge also contributed with a well-paced 20 from 20 deliveries before being dismissed by Mannat Hundal. Captain Anika Kolan played an important role before retiring hurt on 34 off 26 balls, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 130.76.
Despite a middle-order stutter with Tara Norris falling for a duck and Ritu Singh managing just 2 runs, Isani Vaghela’s quick 17 off 12 balls helped USA reach a total of 131/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Extras contributed 6 runs to the total. Canada’s bowlers, led by Terisha Lavia (2/19) and supported by Hundal (1/24), did well to contain USA’s batters, but they lacked the necessary breakthroughs to restrict a strong total.
Chasing 132 for victory, Canada struggled from the outset against a disciplined USA bowling attack. The opening pair of Achini Perera (19 off 28) and Indomatie Goordial-John (6 off 6) showed some resistance, but USA’s bowlers struck at regular intervals, preventing any partnerships from forming. Captain Amarpal Kaur was dismissed for a duck, while wicketkeeper Habeeba Bader managed just 5 runs before falling to Ritu Singh.
Canada’s middle order failed to provide any stability, with Kainat Qazi (3 off 18) and Vandana Mahajan (8 off 11) struggling against tight bowling. The lower order collapsed entirely, with the last five wickets falling for just 7 runs. Canada was bundled out for a meager 53 in 16 overs, falling 78 runs short of the target.
USA’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance, led by Player of the Match Chetnaa Prasad, who ripped through Canada’s lineup with incredible figures of 4/5 in just two overs. Ritu Singh, who was named Player of the Series, continued her stellar form, taking 2 wickets for just 12 runs in her 4-over spell. Geetika Kodali was equally impressive, conceding only 1 run in her two overs while taking a crucial wicket. Saanvi Immadi (1/14), Tara Norris (1/4), and Aditiba Chudasama (1/14) also played their roles in dismantling the Canadian batting order.
This emphatic victory further solidified USA’s position in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier, as they continue their quest for a spot in the prestigious tournament. With an all-round display of skill, teamwork, and dominance, USA Women showcased their strength and depth, sending a strong message to their competitors.
