USA Name Unchanged Squad For Nepal Tour

News January 20, 2020 admin

USA Cricket is pleased to announce an unchanged 14-man squad who will represent the United States Men’s National Team next month in the latest ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Series in Nepal. USA will face off against Oman and hosts, Nepal, over a series of One Day Internationals in Kathmandu where each side plays each other twice in early February.

After a successful recent tour of the UAE, where USA claimed three wins from their four matches and moved to the top of the points table, USA have opted to name an unchanged 14-man squad for the tour of Nepal.

Team USA will undertake a short preparatory camp in Mumbai during the week building up to the trip to Kathmandu to acclimatize as best as possible to similar playing conditions and play some practice matches. The full USA squad will arrive in Mumbai on January 24, where they will be based for a week and will play a series of 3 x 50 Over Matches against a Mumbai Cricket Association XI.

All three of these matches will be played at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana ground in Kandivali, Mumbai and have been organized with full support and sanction from both the BCCI and the Mumbai Cricket Association.

Commenting on the squad, USA Cricket Chairman of Selectors, Ricardo Powell, said, “We are pleased to be able to demonstrate continuity with our latest squad and, crucially, all 14 players that performed so well in the UAE are fit, healthy and available for our series of One Day Internationals against Nepal and Oman in Kathmandu. We are fully aware of the challenges we will be presented by both sides, and how crucial it is we adapt to the local conditions quickly. The preparatory tour of Mumbai leading up to the ODIs will be critical to ensuring we get some game time in similar conditions.”

USA Cricket Chief Executive, Iain Higgins, added “On behalf of everyone associated with USA Cricket, I would like to express our sincere thanks for the support and assistance offered by both the BCCI and the MCA in facilitating our preparatory camp and practice matches in India ahead of travelling to Nepal, and we look forward to playing lots of competitive cricket in both Mumbai and then Nepal on this extended trip.”

This is the third triangular series of One Day International matches for Team USA in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 after the U.S. Men’s National Team gained ODI status at WCL2 in Namibia in April 2019. The matches are part of a series of 36 ODIs that Team USA will play over 2.5 years in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. Additional information on ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 can be found here, where the top 3 finishers in the league will qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2022.

All Team USA matches in Nepal will be covered via @USACricket’s social media handles and with live-scoring in the official USA Cricket Match Center on www.usacricket.org.
