The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier match between the United States of America Women and Argentina Women took place at St Albans Club, Corimayo, on Thursday, March 13, 2025. The game witnessed a dominant performance by the USA Women, who secured a comprehensive victory.

Argentina won the toss and elected to field first, hoping to restrict the USA Women to a manageable total. However, the USA batters put up a disciplined performance, reaching 124/4 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite an early setback, with opener Disha Dhingra run out for just 1, the middle-order batters stabilized the innings. Gargi Bhogle anchored the innings with a steady 26 off 41 balls before falling to Mariana Martinez. Ella Claridge contributed a quick six runs before being dismissed. The real momentum came from Chetna Pagydyala, who remained unbeaten with 36 off 43 balls, and Isani Vaghela, whose 29 off 20 balls provided the necessary acceleration toward the end. Skipper Anika Kolan added eight runs before getting caught behind. The USA benefited from 18 extras, which included 11 wides, boosting their total to a competitive 124/4 at a run rate of 6.20.

Argentina’s bowlers put in a commendable effort but struggled to break crucial partnerships. Albertina Galan was economical, conceding only 16 runs in her four-over spell. Constanza Sosa (1/21) and Mariana Martinez (1/26) took a wicket each, while Lucia Taylor also chipped in with a breakthrough. However, their inability to contain the scoring rate in the final overs proved costly.

Chasing a target of 125, Argentina Women faced immense pressure from the USA bowlers. Their innings never gained momentum, as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. Aditi Chudasama produced a match-winning performance with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 8 runs in her four overs. Ritu Singh and Saanvi Immadi also proved effective, claiming 1/8 and 2/8, respectively. The Argentine batters found it challenging to counter the disciplined bowling attack.

The top order crumbled early, with opener Malena Lollo dismissed for just 1 run. Mariana Martinez fell for a duck, while Albertina Galan managed only 2 off 22 balls before being caught. Maria Castiñeiras, the only batter to show some resistance, scored 11 off 33 deliveries, but her slow strike rate hindered Argentina’s chances of mounting a serious chase. Alison Stocks, Julieta Cullen, and Lucia Taylor were unable to contribute significantly, while Constanza Sosa remained not out with 11 runs. Argentina’s innings ended at 53/9 in 20 overs, resulting in a massive 71-run defeat.

The USA’s bowling unit displayed remarkable discipline, restricting Argentina to a paltry run rate of 2.65. Chudasama’s exceptional spell earned her the Player of the Match award. Her figures of 3/8 in four overs showcased her skill and ability to control the game.
