Wolfpack Champions Again After Defeating Sheffield

Wolfpack cricket club completed an unbeaten 30 over campaign by defeating Sheffield to take the division 1B title. Winning the toss and batting first, Sheffield opening pair of Wayne Crockwell and M. Tappin starts the innings off scoring mostly in singles. In the 7th over with the score on 23 runs Tappin was bowled by Rudy Baichoolall for 4 runs. Sheffield captain Michael Persaud was next but didn’t last long he was out caught for 7 runs. At the end of 10 overs the score was 35 for 2.

Chad Richmond joins Crockwell and together they put on an 88 runs partnership before Crockwell was stumped off the bowling of Dev Autar for a patient 38 runs. At the end of the 24th over the score were 125 for 3 when Richmond decided to go after the bowling hitting some powerful drives before he was run out for a super knock of 90 runs which included 8×4 and 2×6. Sheffield finishes their innings on 189 for 7 wickets. Wolfpack bowling was led by Dev Autar 3 wickets for 42 runs, Rudy Baichoolall 2 for 38 and Zakir Bacchus 1 for 32.

Wolfpack in reply open their innings with H. Bacchus and Anand Hargobin, but both batsmen were sent back quickly, Hargobin was caught for 2 runs and Bacchus run out for 7 runs. E. Jaikarran was next to go caught for 3 runs. K. Ramcharran and Zakir Bacchus put on a 14 runs partnership before Ramcharran was run out by a direct hit for 17 runs. At the end of 7 overs the score was 34 runs for 4 wickets. S. Adam joins Zakir Bacchus and together they batted sensible at a crucial time of the innings to see their team to the 15 over break with the score on 97 runs. S. Adam was bowled with the first ball after the break for a well played 27 runs.

Captain Autar was next to bat and together with Z. Bacchus start to increase the scoring rate on their way to a partnership of 79 runs before Autar was caught for 48 runs which included 3×6 and 5×4 and at the end of the 24th over Wolfpack was well placed at 176 for 6. Rudy Baichoolall was next but didn’t last long scoring only 3 runs. W. Asrula was next and with the score on 182 runs slams two fours to finish the game and joy erupted in the Wolfpack camp as their supporters rushed onto the field in celebration. Zakir Bacchus for his determination and patience was named Most Valuable Player of the finals for his 55 runs not out and taking 1 wicket for 32 runs. Sheffield bowling was led by E. Bascomb 3 for 24 and E. Doodson and C. Richmond 1 wicket apiece.
