Liberty SC Beat Everest/ACS After Falling to Galaxy
Liberty Sports Club rebounded with an 80 runs win over Everest/ACS after losing to Galaxy Cricket Club the previous week. Sent in to bat on Sunday LSC posted 184 off a rain reduced 30 overs. Trinson Carmichael and Danesh Deonarain posted half-centuries. In defense LSC bowled out E/ACS for 104 with Hemendra Ramdihal picking up 4 wickets.
A week earlier Galaxy Cricket Club’s Tamesh Balwant crafted a gutsy half-century when his side asked LSC to chase 201 for victory at Bay Park. LSC only managed 125 before being bowled out with Andre Kirton’s 40 and Ramdihal’s 33 being the only significant scorers.

Overnight showers left puddles of water on the Baisley Cage pitch which forced a delayed start. With the game reduced to 30 overs a side E/ACS won the toss and sent in LSC. Anthonio Chan edged the first ball of the match to the keeper to be the first batsman out. Ramdihal and skipper Deonarain added 42 before Ramdihal held out for 20.
Joined by Carmichael, Deonarain went on to get past a half century. He hit 3 fours and 4 maximums in his knock of 55. The partnership yielded 83 in 10 overs when Deonarain was out caught. Carmichael also went on to his half century. He also struck 3 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 63.
The middle-lower order stuttered though in pressing on with the total. Vijendra Singh’s 13 was the highest contributor of the remaining batsmen when the LSC inning ended at 184 for 9 at the 30th over.
Bowling for E/ACS Zamin Amin picked up 3 wickets while there were two each for Deveshwari Persad and Wasim Haslim and 1 for Karan Ganesh.
Carmichael struck twice early to remove both E/ACS batsmen cheaply. Leon Mohabir then scalped the aggressive Haslim (24) and then Ganesh to reduce E/ACS to 41 for 4 in the 9th over.
Amarnauth Persaud and Deveshwari Persaud would pair for 33 before Ramdihal removed the later. Amarnauth struck one four and one six in his inning high knock of 37. Ramdihal would eventually get Amarnauth and 2 additional wickets before Orlando and Rusty Kirton picked up 1 wicket each to wrap up the E/ACS inning for 104 all out.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first Galaxy lost both openers to Trinson Carmichael. A determined Tamesh Balwant was the only constant at the crease as wickets fell at the other end. He eventually found a partner in Shiv Ragubar. The duo added 64 for the 8th wicket in just 9 overs. Balwant hit a single boundary in his knock of 55 while Ragubar hit 2 fours and a six in his 37.
Carmichael finished with 3 wickets while Andre Kirton and Jamiel Jackman picked up 2 each and Ramdihal and Mohabir 1 apiece. Galaxy posted 201 for LSC to chase on the challenging Bay Park wicket.
Ramdihal and Francis Mendonca got off to a rapid start with Ramdihal blasting 33 before getting out. Deonarine and Carmichael fell in successive balls to leave LSC at 55 for 3 in the 11th over. Andre Kirton and Mendonca looked to consolidate and moved the score up to 82 when Mendonca was bowled for 12. Two more quick wickets left the chase in dire straits at 98 for 6 in the 20th over.
Andre Kirton kept on fighting in the middle and found some help from his uncle, Orlando Kirton, who stuck around to see the score up to 121 before he was adjudged LBW. Andre Kirton running out of partner, however, eventually fell for a brave 40 runs which included just two boundaries.
The remaining LSC batsmen only managed to push the score up to 125 before the team was all out. Metray Balgobin picked up 3 wickets while Kieran Krishna, Eon Katchay and Troy Mars picked up 2 each. Shiv Ragubar scalped one LSC batsman.
