San Francisco Unicorns produced a commanding batting display to defeat Lahore Qalandars by seven wickets with 28 deliveries to spare in Match 9 of the Global Super League at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Wednesday. Chasing 153, the Unicorns reached 156 for 3 in just 15.2 overs, with Hassan Khan anchoring the chase through an unbeaten half-century after Callum Stow's four-wicket haul had restricted Lahore.

After electing to bat, Lahore Qalandars made a steady start but struggled to accelerate consistently against disciplined bowling. Shamyl Hussain and Shayan Jahangir shared a 74-run opening partnership that laid the platform, with Shamyl contributing a measured 36 from 36 balls before becoming the first of Callum Stow's four victims in the 12th over.

Jahangir carried the innings with a composed 61 off 50 deliveries, striking two fours and four sixes while holding the innings together through the middle overs. Mohammad Naeem added 18 from 15 balls, but Lahore lost momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals during the closing overs.

Stow turned the match with a decisive spell, removing Shamyl Hussain, Mohammad Naeem, Michael Bracewell and Jahangir to finish with outstanding figures of 4 for 25 from four overs. Peter Siddle claimed the wicket of Farhan Yousaf, while Fabian Allen dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon. Lahore managed only 44 runs in the final five overs to finish on 152 for 6, a total that ultimately proved below par on a batting-friendly surface.

San Francisco's chase began aggressively. Tim Robinson struck 21 from 15 balls, including two sixes, before Shahab Khan claimed the breakthrough. Connor Esterhuizen maintained the momentum with a brisk 29 off 18 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes before Michael Bracewell ended his innings.

Despite losing two wickets inside eight overs, the Unicorns remained comfortably ahead of the required rate thanks to Hassan Khan's composed yet powerful innings. The left-hander finished unbeaten on 53 from just 33 deliveries, clearing the ropes five times while adding valuable boundaries to keep Lahore's bowlers under sustained pressure.

Ollie Peake further tilted the contest in San Francisco's favor with an entertaining 27 from 15 balls, striking two fours and two sixes. Although Shamim Hossain Patwari removed Peake at 116 for 3, any hopes of a late Lahore comeback quickly disappeared.

Hammad Azam provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 18 from 11 deliveries, sharing an unbroken 40-run partnership with Hassan Khan that carried the Unicorns comfortably past the target in the 16th over.

Lahore's bowling attack was unable to build sustained pressure. Shahab Khan, Michael Bracewell and Shamim Hossain Patwari each claimed a wicket, but Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Mohammad Basit and Usama Mir all went wicketless as the Unicorns maintained an aggressive scoring rate throughout the chase.

The victory strengthens San Francisco Unicorns' position in the Global Super League standings and boosts their net run rate, while Lahore Qalandars will need to regroup quickly as the tournament enters its decisive stage with every remaining match carrying increased significance.
